Changing the Name of a Scenic Reserve.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS under the provisions of the Designation
of Districts Act, 1908, it is enacted that the
Governor may assign a name or designation to any dis-
trict, land, area, hill, mountain, forest, &c., or other
place or locality whatsoever in New Zealand: And whereas
it is desirable to assign names to certain areas of land
proclaimed under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred on me by section 2 of the De-
signation of Districts Act, 1908, and of all other powers
and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, John
Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor
of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the name of the area of land more parti-
cularly described in the Schedule hereto, and hitherto
known as the Ohakune Scenic Reserve, shall be known
as Rongokaupo Hill Scenic Reserve, and do assign the
last-mentioned name to such area accordingly; and do
also hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation
shall take effect on and after the date hereof.

SCHEDULE.

ALL those areas in the Wellington Land District, pro-
claimed as a scenic reserve on page 3115 of the Gazette
No. 75, of the 4th August, 1910, containing by admeasure-
ment 457 acres 3 roods 20 perches, more or less, being
Section 1, Block IV, Makotuku Survey District; 378 acres
being Section 2, Block IV, Makotuku Survey District;
and 72 acres, more or less, being Section 3, Block IV,
Makotuku Survey District.

Also all that area proclaimed as a scenic reserve on
page 2183 of the Gazette No. 57, of the 13th July, 1911,
containing by admeasurement 1,250 acres, more or less,
and being Section 4, Block IV, Makotuku Survey District.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908,
(hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a
Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is
enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the
Minister charged for the time being with the administra-
tion of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic
or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs,
and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the
Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what
lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently
reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And
whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and
report on the land described in the Schedule hereunder,
and has recommended that the said land should be per-
manently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient
to give effect to such recommendation:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers con-
tained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the land described in the Schedule hereunder shall
be a scenic reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act,
1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

OHAKUNE SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, contain-
ing by admeasurement 4 acres 3 roods 4 perches, more or
less, being Suburban Section No. 40, Town of Ohakune.
Bounded towards the north-west, north-east, and south-
east generally by a road and river-bank reserve along the
bank of the Mangateitei Stream; and by Suburban Sec-
tion No. 39, a school reserve; and towards the south-
west by Suburban Sections Nos. 41 and 42: as the same
is delineated on the plan marked L. 593/12, deposited in
the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and
thereon bordered red.

BEN LOMOND SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing
by admeasurement 1,169 acres, more or less, being Sec-
tions Nos. 42, Block I, and 4, Block VIII, Mid Waka-
tipu Survey District, and Section No. 77, Block XX,
Shotover Survey District (formerly portion of Pas-
toral Run No. 10). Bounded by a line commencing
at Trig. X, Mid Wakatipu Survey District; thence south-
westery by Crown lands, 3981 links, by Section No. 3,
Block VIII, Mid Wakatipu Survey District, 163 links and
2136·1 links; thence south-easterly generally by aforesaid
Section No. 3 and Sections Nos. 72 and 66, Block XX,
Shotover Survey District, 2569·1, 842·9, 587·9, 1552·4,
2980·2, 2547·1, and 1142·5 links; thence south-westerly by
Section No. 19, Block XX, Shotover Survey District, 4232
and 3527·8 links; thence northerly and north-westerly
generally by a road-line, 233·9, 239·5, 1411, 675, 406·7,
