A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said land should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.
SCHEDULE.
“THE AVENUE” SCENIC RESERVE.
ALL that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 234 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 1445, situated in Block I, Otira Survey District. Bounded by a line commencing at the north-eastern corner of Section No. 2005, on the south side of the Hokitika-Christchurch Road; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section No. 2005, 1913·8 links; thence westerly along the southern boundary of that section, 1103·7 links; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Section No. 2982, 1316·6 links; thence easterly along a right line bearing 86° 32′ 13″, distance 9549·7 links, to the road forming the western boundary of Section No. 2572; thence northerly along the western side of that road, 1560·4 links, and the production of the western side of that road across the Hokitika-Christchurch Road, and from the last-mentioned road to the top of the terrace, about 400 links; thence westerly along the top of the terrace to a point about 80 links distant from and
due north of the northern roadside peg of traverse peg V; thence along a right line running due north, about 270 links, to the left bank of the Taramakau River; thence westerly along the left bank of that river to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section No. 2982; thence due south to the Hokitika-Christchurch Road, about 320 links; thence easterly along the northern side of that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section No. 2005; and thence across the said road to the north-eastern corner of the said Section No. 2005, the place of commencement: excluding the part of the Hokitika-Christchurch Road within the above-described area, and Gravel Reserves Nos. 1409 and 1410: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 619/1, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Extending Time for holding General Election of Councillors in certain Counties.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of October, 1911.

PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section sixty-five of the Counties Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the general election of members of the various County Councils throughout the Dominion shall be held on the second Wednesday in November: And whereas it is expedient to extend the time for holding such election in certain counties:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section two hundred and seventeen of the said Act, and of all other powers in any-wise enabling him in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the time for holding the general election of Councillors for the Counties of Wai-taki, Ellesmere, and Waimairi; and doth hereby order and declare that in the aforesaid counties the said general election shall be held and take place on Wednesday, the fifteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

WHEREAS the Waimairi County Council has passed a resolution as provided by section two of the Counties Amendment Act, 1908:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that, pursuant to the said resolution, the number of the members of the said Waimairi County Council is hereby increased to eleven.
