point in the Kamo Town District boundary at the Govern-
ment railway-bridge across the road traversing the Puriri-
taki Block; thence on the east generally by the western
boundary of the Hikurangi Riding as hereinbefore defined
to the intersection of the Bay of Islands County boundary
with the eastern boundary of Block XVI, Motatau Survey
District; thence westerly by the southern boundary of the
Bay of Islands County to the commencing-point.
The common seal of the body corporate called the Chair-
man, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Wha-
ngarei was hereto impressed and affixed by order of the
Council thereof this 24th day of April, 1911, by and in

THE following special order, made by the Opotiki
County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Counties Act, 1908.

OPOTIKI COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order altering Ridings and adjusting Representa-
tion in the Council.
In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of
the Counties Act, 1908, the Opotiki County Council re-
solves as follows:—

The present division of the County of Opotiki is
revoked; and in lieu thereof the said county shall be
divided into six ridings, to be called respectively Ohiwa
Riding, Waiotahi Riding, Waioeka Riding, Upper Waioeka
Riding, Otara Riding, and Motu Riding, which said ridings
are respectively described in the Schedule hereto. -
The said Opotiki County Council shall consist of
eleven members, who shall be elected as follows:—
(a.) Ohiwa Riding, one member.
(b.) Waiotahi Riding, two members.
(c.) Waioeka Riding, three members.
(d.) Upper Waioeka Riding, one member.
(e.) Otara Riding, two members.
(f.) Motu Riding, two members.
- The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and
after the 7th day of November, 1911.
SCHEDULE.
- Ohiwa Riding.
All that area bounded towards the north, commencing
at a point on the sea-beach where the Maraetotara Road
reaches the sea; thence by the sea to the Waiotahi River;
on the east by the Waiotahi River to its source, thence to a
point on the eastern boundary of Tahoma No. 2A Block two
miles from the southern point of said block; thence along
the south-western boundary of said block to the northern
boundary-line of Block XIII, Waioeka Survey District;
thence along the said northern boundary-line of Block
XIII, Waioeka Survey District, to the north-west corner
of said Block XIII; thence along the east line of Block
XVI, Waimana Survey District, to the north-west corner
of Block I, Waioeka South Survey District; thence along
the southern boundary of said Block XVI to the Waimana
River; and thence to the commencing-point by part of
the boundary-line between the Whakatane County and
Opotiki County.
- Waiotahi Riding.
All that area bounded, commencing at a point on the
east bank of the Waiotahi River, towards the north by the
sea; towards the east by the Opotiki Harbour and Waio-
eka River to a point where the Appleton Road crosses the
Waioeka River, thence following the western side of the
Appleton Road to the confiscation boundary-line; and
thence towards the east by the western boundary-line of
Block II, Waioeka Survey District, in a straight line
passing along the western boundary-lines of Blocks VI, X,
XIV of the Waioeka Survey District, and Blocks II and
VI of Waioeka South Survey District, to the south-western
corner of Block VI of the Waioeka South Survey District;
thence again towards the north by a line running in an
easterly direction along the southern boundary-lines of
Blocks VI and VII of the Waioeka South Survey District
to the Waioeka River; thence towards the north-east, con-
tinuing in a southerly direction along the Waioeka River
and Koranga River to the Maungataperi Trig., and then
towards the south by the boundary-line between the Cook
and Opotiki Counties to the Whakatane County boundary;
and thence in a northerly direction towards the west by
the Whakatane County boundary-line to the northern
boundary of Block IV, Urewera Survey District; and
thence to the commencing-point by the southern and eastern
boundary-lines of the Ohiwa Riding.
- Waioeka Riding.
All that area, commencing at the south-west corner of
Opotiki Town District, towards the north by the Opotiki
Town District to the Otara River; thence towards the east
by the Otara River to the south-east corner of Allot-
ment 346 of the Parish of Waioeka, continuing in a
westerly direction by the southern boundary-line of Waio-
eka Parish to Allotment 367, Waioeka Parish, and con-
tinuing by a line bounding the north side of Allotments 367,
366, 365A, 354A, and 337 of the Parish of Waioeka, and
then by Appleton Road to the Waioeka River; and thence
to the commencing-point towards the west by the Waioeka
River.
- Upper Waioeka Riding.
All that area, commencing at the south-west corner of
the Waioeka Riding, towards the north by the southern
boundary-line of the Waioeka Riding to the south-eastern
corner of the Waioeka Riding; and thence towards the
east by the Otara River to the junction of the Te Whaiti
and Pakihi Streams, continuing towards the east by a line
running southerly along the Pakihi Stream to the northern-
most point of Allotment 24, Section 2, Motu Survey Dis-
trict; and thence to the Motuhora Trig.; and thence
towards the south by part of the boundary-line between the
Opotiki and Waikohu Counties to the Koranga Stream;
and thence to the commencing-point by a northern and
eastern boundary of the Waiotahi Riding.
- Otara Riding.
All that area, commencing at the mouth of the Opotiki
Harbour, towards the north by the sea; towards the east
by the main Opotiki-Gisborne Road to the south-east
corner of Section III, Block XIV, Opotiki Survey Dis-
trict; and thence towards the south in a westerly direc-
tion by the northern boundary-line of Urutawa Survey
District to the Pakihi Stream; and thence to the com-
mencing-point towards the west by the Pakihi Stream and
Otara River, forming part of the eastern boundary-line of
Upper Waioeka Riding and the east boundary-line of
Waioeka Riding.
- Motu Riding.
All that area bounded, commencing at the mouth of the
Waiawa River, towards the north-west by the sea to Cape
Runaway; and thence towards the east by a line running
in a southerly direction and forming the boundary-line
between the Opotiki and Waiapu and part of Waikohu
Counties to the Oatua Trig.; and thence to the point of
commencement by the eastern boundary-line of the
Upper Waioeka Riding, by a part of the southern bound-
ary-line of Otara Riding, and by the eastern boundary of
Otara Riding.
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly
made in accordance with section 97 of the Counties Act,
1908.
