Notice exempting Crown Land from the Provisions of the
Mining Act.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred
upon me by the Mining Act, 1908, and of every
other power and authority enabling me in this behalf,
I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington,
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby,
as from the day of the date hereof, exempt that area of
Crown land situated in the Hauraki Mining District de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto from mining on the surface,
or within fifty feet from the surface thereof, except for
the purpose of constructing ventilating or pumping shafts,
or the erection and maintenance of lines for the trans-
mission of electrical energy.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District containing
by admeasurement 1,245 acres, more or less, being part
of Section No. 1, Block XII, Aroha Survey District.
Bounded towards the south-west by Allotments Nos. 24
and 21 of Section No. 1 aforesaid, the abutment of a road
and Allotment No. 23, 12299.2 links, from the Wai-
orongomai Stream to Section No. 28; thence towards
the south-east by the said Section No. 28, 4700 links;
thence towards the east by a right line running due north,
11139 links; thence towards the north by a right line
running due west, about 12260 links, to the Waiorongomai
Stream; and thence towards the north-west by that
stream to the place of commencement.
As witness my hand, this seventeenth day of October,
one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Postmaster appointed to take and receive Statutory
Declarations.
PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the
two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices
of the Peace Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that
ALLAN NAPIER KENNADAY,
being a person holding the office of Postmaster under the
Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at Resolution Bay, is au-
thorized to take and receive statutory declarations under
the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices
of the Peace Act, 1908.
As witness my hand, this seventeenth day of October,
one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the
Westland Land District for Other Land.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
WHEREAS by section eleven of the Scenery Preserva-
tion Amendment Act, 1910, it is enacted that it
shall be lawful for the Governor, whenever he deems it
expedient for the purposes of scenery-preservation, to grant
in fee-simple any area of Crown land in exchange for the
fee-simple of any other land which in his opinion is of
approximately equal value, and that such exchange may be
made under the provisions of section one hundred and forty-
two of the Land Act, 1908:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is ex-
pedient to exchange the Crown land described in the first
column of the Schedule hereto for the land described in the
second column of the said Schedule, and the owner of the
land described in the second column of the said Schedule
has agreed to such exchange:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers
and authorities, doth hereby declare that it is his intention
to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in
the first column of the Schedule hereto in exchange for the
fee-simple of the area of the land described in the second
column of the said Schedule.

| All that area of land in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,000 acres, more or less, situated in Block XII, Mahinapua Survey District, and Block IX, Kanieri Survey District, Westland County. Bounded as follows: From the north-east corner of Section 2776 proceeding generally north-easterly along the side of H.I. Road for 265.8, 1600, 2550 links, then across H.O. Road for 100 links, then south-easterly for 650 links to side of Seddon's Terrace Road, along which roadside proceeding generally north-easterly for 370, 2030, and 1000 links; then proceeding north-westerly for 2900 and 9500 links; then proceeding south-westerly for 9400 links to side of H.P. Road, along which roadside proceeding south-easterly 1300 and 1950 links to side of H.H. Road, along which roadside proceeding north-easterly for 1470 links; then south-westerly across H.H. Road for 102.2 links to the north corner of Section 2776; proceeding south-westerly along the northern boundary of said Section 2776 for 8242.9 links back to the starting-point: saving and excepting that portion of the H.O. Road and H.H. Road (shown approximately on accompanying plan by dotted lines) enclosed within the above boundaries: be all the aforementioned distances more or less: as the same is delineated on plan 101/140, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika. | All that area of land in the Westland Land District, containing altogether by admeasurement 660 acres, more or less, being parts of Sections 857 and 1995, Blocks VIII, XI, and XII, Hohonu Survey District, Westland County, and being generally a 5-chain width from the road reserve round the western and south-western part of Lake Brunner from Irishman's Road to the northern boundary of Section 2042; together with more extensive portion extending from near Gulch Creek to the south-eastern boundary of Section 857. Bounded as follows: Beginning at the north-west corner of Section 2042, proceeding generally northerly for 2345, 1914.8, 2902.4, 394.6, 300, 1057.2, 2467.8, 1853.2, 1467.7, 1988.4 1280, and 1500 links to angle of road reserve, Hohonu River; then proceeding down-stream for 1598, 642, 926, 1262, 430, 998, 348, and 1258 links; then proceeding generally southerly along road reserve for 3500, 1870, 1310, 1400, 1968, 1315, 909, 700, 3082, 1724, and 1918.5 links to the north-east corner of Section 2042 aforesaid; then returning westerly along northern boundary of said Section to the starting point for 516 links. Also beginning at the north-east corner of Section 1995; proceeding generally southerly for 1160 links and 540 links, then along a roadside, 2950 links, to roadside reserve, Hohonu River; proceeding up-stream north-westerly for 300 and 250 links; then proceeding generally north-easterly for 2280 and 2000 links to a point on the northern boundary of Section 1995 (500 links distant from its north-east corner); thence from said point, 770 links, to roadside and across Dobson's Road 100 links wide; then for 1750 and 1520 links to the south side of Irishman's Road; then proceeding south-easterly along said roadside, 577.3 links; then proceeding south-westerly along road reserve for 1808 and 2157.2 links to junction with Dobson's Road; thence direct to starting-point: saving and excepting that portion of Dobson's Road intersecting the above land. And again beginning at road-angle of traverse-peg I on Lake Brunner Road, proceeding due south for 4000 links, then due east for 5412 links; then bearing south-easterly for 7850.3 links to roadside, along which roadside proceeding north-easterly for 2953 links; then proceeding in a generally westerly direction along road reserve for 1464.4 links, 320, 2720, 3528, 1866, 700, 1242, 1340.3, 910, and 310 links to the north-east corner of Section 2032, southerly for 798 links across Bruce's Paddock Road for 104 links, and for 2532.8 links to the south-eastern corner, then westerly for 983 links to the south-western corner, then northerly for 3006.5 links to junction with roadside, along which roadside proceeding westerly for 1054.3 and 426 links to the starting-point: saving and excepting that portion of Bruce's Paddock Road, and a pipe-line reserve, 25 links wide, enclosed within the above boundaries. Be all the aforementioned distances more or less: as the same is delineated on plan 36/11, deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Hokitika. |
