Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Hawke's Bay Land District for other Land.

ISLINGTON, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-two of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land which in his opinion is of approximately equal value, and that all land acquired by the Crown by any such exchange shall become Crown land, and be subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the first column of the Schedule hereto for the land described in the second column of the said Schedule, and the owner of the land described in the second column of the said Schedule has agreed to such exchange:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the said section one hundred and forty-two, doth hereby declare that it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the first column of the Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the second column of the said Schedule.

All that area in the Hawke's Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 16 acres 1 rood 5 perches, more or less, being part of Small Grazing-run No. 14 and part of closed road, situated in Block IV, Moeangiangi Survey District, Waikare Crown-grant District. Bounded towards the north-west by Block 46, 453 links; towards the north-east by other part of Small Grazing-run No. 14 and closed road, 1855·5 links; towards the south-east by Block 22, 558·6 links; and towards the south and west generally by the Waitaha River to point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1911/1155, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green. | All that area in the Hawke's Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 16 acres 1 rood 5 perches, more or less, being part of Block 46, Waikare Crown-grant District, Block IV, Moeangiangi Survey District. Vesting Control of the Mangawhero Suspension-bridge in the Mangawhero Road Board.

ISLINGTON, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and twenty of the Public Works Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Warrant publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Warrant, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Warrant; and may by any such Warrant as aforesaid fix and determine whether all or any, and, if so, what part, of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or thereafter to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing any such bridge is to be provided and paid by the local authority or local authorities, and, if so, by what local authority or local authorities; and may by any such Proclamation as aforesaid direct how, when, and to whom any such payment is to be made:
And whereas it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the said bridge, as described in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Mangawhero Suspension-bridge, shall, from and after the date of this Warrant, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Mangawhero Road Board:
And, in further pursuance and exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge is to be provided and paid by the Mangawhero Road Board out of the funds of the said Board.

SCHEDULE.
That bridge over the Mangawhero River, in the Wellington Land District, Wanganui County, and known as the Mangawhero Suspension-bridge, on Raupiu Road, opposite Section 3, Block I, Mangawhero Survey District; as the site of the said bridge is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 30425, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor. this seventeenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Warrant vesting Control of the Whangarei-Kamo Road in the Whangarei County Council and the Whangarei Borough Council, and apportioning the Cost of Maintenance.

ISLINGTON, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and nine of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is provided that in any case where a road in one district is largely used by or for the purpose of traffic to or from any other district or districts, and affords access to or from such districts, and the Governor is of opinion that it is equitable that the latter district or districts should contribute towards the cost of constructing or maintaining the whole or any portion of such road in the former district, the Governor may from time to time apportion the cost of constructing or maintaining the whole or any part of such road among the local authorities of the respective districts as he thinks fit; and for that purpose, and to enable effect to be given hereto, the provisions of section one hundred and twenty hereof shall, mutatis mutandis, apply in the case of the maintenance of the road:
And whereas by section twelve of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1909, it is provided that where a road or street lies along the boundary of two or more districts, whether that road or street is wholly within one or is partly within one and is partly within another of those districts, or is within none of those districts, the Governor may from time to time by Warrant under his hand and gazetted, direct which of the local authorities of those districts shall have control of the road or street, or any part thereof, and may also in like manner determine from time to time whether any of those local authorities shall contribute towards the cost of the construction or maintenance of that road or street, and, if so, in what proportions:
And whereas a dispute has arisen as to which local authority should have control of the portions of road described in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to as “the said portions of road”), and what proportion of the cost of maintaining the said portions of road should be borne by the local authorities affected:
And whereas an inquiry was duly held and a report was made in respect to the matter:
And whereas the Governor is of opinion that provisions should be made under the hereinbefore-in-part-recited Acts, for the purposes hereinafter mentioned;
