Opening National Endowment Lands in Auckland Land
District for Selection.
I S L I N G T O N , Governor.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor
of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that
the national endowment lands described in the Schedule
hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Mon-
day, the twenty-seventh day of November, one thousand nine
hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said
Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be
leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

OPOURIKI COUNTY.—WAIORAKA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 750 ft. to 2,700 ft. above sea-level. Steep hill-
sides, suitable for sheep-farming; section contains home-
stead-sites; covered with heavy mixed forest comprising
tawa, rata, hinau, tawhirimahoe, miro, tawai on ridges,
and some scattered rimu and matai, with thick under-
growth of raurekau, supplejack, kiekie, &c. Soil a good
clay, getting lighter towards tops of ridges, on old sedi-
mentary formation; well watered by streams. Situated
thirty-four miles from Opotiki—twelve miles dray-road,
remainder bridle-track. The road along the eastern
boundary, when formed, will reduce the distance from
Opotiki to twenty miles.
OPOURIKI COUNTY.—URUTAWA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 800 ft. to 2,763 ft. above sea-level. Steep hill-
sides, suitable for sheep-farming; section contains a home-
stead site; covered with heavy mixed forest comprising
tawa, rata, tawhirihinau, mahoe, konini, and tawai on
ridges, with thick undergrowth of raurekau, karamu, sup-
plejack, &c. Soil a good clay, lighter on tops of ridges, on
old sedimentary formation; well watered by streams.
Situated thirty-six miles from Opotiki—twelve miles dray-
road and twenty-two miles bridle-track. Present access
for remainder of distance is up the bed of a stream, but
road is surveyed, and will be constructed shortly.

District for Selection.

of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that
the national endowment lands described in the Schedule
hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on
Monday, the eighteenth day of December, one thousand
nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the
said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands
shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the
said Act.

Situated on the Rerekino and Makino North Roads.
Section 2 is nine miles and a half distant from Uruti, and
Section 3 eleven miles from Uruti. Access is from Uruti
via Rerekino, Moki, and Uruti Roads—by dray-road for
four miles and a half, and bridle-road for remaining dis-
tance. The sections comprise broken country, and the soil
is of fair quality, on a papa formation. The forest con-
sists of tawa, rimu, kahikatea, hinau, &c., with the
usual undergrowth of karamu, &c. The sections are well
watered. Elevation ranges from 500 ft. to 1,420 ft. above
sea-level.

miles from Uruti via Makino North, Rerekino, Moki, and
Uruti Roads.. Access is from Uruti—by dray-road for
four miles and a half, and bridle-track for remaining dis-
tance. The section comprises broken country. The soil
is of fair quality, on a papa formation. The forest con-
sists of tawa, rimu, kahikatea, hinau, &c., with an under-
growth of karamu, &c. The section is well watered.
Elevation ranges from 500 ft. to 1,320 ft. above sea-level.
CLIFTON COUNTY.—POUATU SURVEY DISTRICT.

sections are well watered. Elevation ranges from 500 ft.
to 1,480 ft. above sea-level.

New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection
on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of No-
vember, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals
mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the
said lands shall be leased under and subject to the pro-
visions of the said Acts.
