Light soil, fair to inferior in quality, on sandstone formation; watered by a stream which gives a meagre supply in summer. Situated eight miles from Mangapai by cart-road, and five miles from Waikiekie dairy factory.

About 15 acres undulating fern and manuka land; balance broken, covered with light mixed forest comprising a few kauri-rickers and young rimu-trees, manuka, rata, and tawa, with light undergrowth of ferns, &c. Clay soil, medium to inferior in quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by springs and small streams. Situated six miles from Waipu by formed cart-road, five miles of which is metalled.

Weighted with £124, valuation for improvements consisting of 40 acres grassing and 50 chains fencing.

Altitude, 200 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. Broken land; 40 acres in grass; remainder mixed forest comprising rata, tawa, kohekohe, &c., with dense undergrowth of nikau, bush-ferns, and shrubs. Soil of fair second-class quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated eighteen miles from Ohinewai Railway-station by formed road.

Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eleven; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Situated thirty-six and thirty-four miles respectively from Opotiki—twelve miles good dray-road, remainder bridle and stock track.

OPOTIKI COUNTY.—URUTAWA SURVEY DISTRICT.

A well-sheltered valley, with steep hillsides; contains a homestead-site; covered with heavy mixed forest comprising tawa, rata, tawhiri, mahoe, hinau, miro, and some rimu and matai; ridges mostly tawai or birch, with thick undergrowth of raurekau, karamu, supplejack, &c. Soil a good clay, light towards tops of ranges, on old sedimentary formation consisting of sandstone, clay-slate, conglomerate, &c.; well watered by streams. Situated thirty-six miles from Opotiki—twelve miles dray-road, twenty-two miles bridle-track. Present access to section is up bed of stream from end of bridle-track.

Soil a good clay, lighter towards tops of ranges, on old sedimentary formation; well watered by streams. Situated thirty-seven miles from Opotiki—twelve miles good dray-road, twenty-two miles bridle-track. Present access to sections is up bed of stream from end of bridle-track.

OPOTIKI COUNTY.—MOTU WEST SURVEY DISTRICT.

Soil a good clay, lighter towards tops of ridges, on old sedimentary formation; well watered by streams. Access is from Matawai, nine miles distant—three miles dray-road, balance stock-track; or from Opotiki, thirty-nine miles distant—twelve miles dray-road, remainder bridle and stock track.
