Special Order made by the Dannevirke County Council altering Ridings and fixing Representation.

THE following special order, made by the Dannevirke County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908.

DANNEVIRKE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order.—Adjusting Representation in the Council and altering Ridings.

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Dannevirke County Council resolves by way of special order as follows:—

  1. The present division of the County of Dannevirke into four ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into six ridings, to be called respectively Dannevirke Riding, Mangatoro Riding, Ngapaeruru Riding, Matamau Riding, Norsewood Riding, and Ormondville Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Dannevirke County shall consist of seven members who shall be elected as follows: The electors of the Dannevirke Riding shall elect two Councillors. The electors of the Mangatoro, Ngapaeruru, Matamau, Norsewood, and Ormondville Ridings shall each elect one Councillor.

  3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect from date of gazetting.

SCHEDULE.

Dannevirke Riding.

All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay commencing at the summit of the Ruahine Range, along the boundary-line of the Piripiri and Umutaoroa Blocks to the Mangatera Stream at the northern corner of Section 31, Block XIII, Norsewood Survey District; thence along the Mangatera Stream to the southern corner of Section 18, Block XIV; thence easterly to the Whakaruatapu Stream at the north-western corner of the Otanga Block; thence southerly along the Whakaruatapu Stream to its junction with the Mangatera Stream; thence southerly along the Mangatera Stream to the south-eastern corner of Section 18, Block III, Tahoraiti Survey District, and the Dannevirke Borough boundary; thence following the borough boundary westerly and southerly round to the Mangatera Stream; thence along the Mangatera Stream to its junction with the Dannevirke-Weber Road; thence along the Dannevirke-Weber Road to the junction of the Kaitoki-Otope Road; thence along the Kaitoki-Otope Road to the Woodville boundary at the Otope Stream; thence northerly and westerly along the Otope Stream to its junction with the Manawatu River; thence along the Manawatu River to its junction with the Orua-Keretaki Stream; thence along the Orua-Keretaki Stream to its junction with the Mangapukakahu Stream; thence along the Mangapukakahu Stream to the northern boundary of Section 13, Block I, Woodville Survey District; thence along the northern boundaries of Sections 54, 51, and 50, Block I, Woodville Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of Sections 57 and 1, Block I, Woodville Survey District; thence along the south-western boundary of Tamaki No. 5 Block to Trig. Station No. 85 on Ruahine Range; and thence along said range to place of commencement.

Mangatoro Riding.

All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay commencing at the junction of the Mangatera and Whakaruatapu Streams, in a southerly direction along the Tiratu and Tipapakuku boundaries to the Manawatu River; thence along the Manawatu River to its junction with the Mangatoro Stream; thence along the Mangatoro Stream to its junction with the Mangamaire Stream to the north-eastern corner of Section 3, Block XIV, Mangatoro Survey District; thence along the eastern boundaries of Sections 3 and 4 to the Weber County boundary; thence along the Weber County boundary to Trig. Station No. 52c (Wahataura); thence westerly along the southern boundary of Puketoi No. 6A to the Mangatoro Stream; thence along the western boundaries of Puketoi No. 6A and Puketoi No. 6B, Tahoraiti Survey District; thence westerly along the southern boundary of Section 16, Block XVI, Tahoraiti Survey District; thence northerly along the western boundaries of Sections 16, Block XVI, and 5 and 4, Block XII, Mangatoro Survey District, to Trig. Station No. 52 at eastern corner of Kaitoki No. 3 Block; thence westerly along the southern boundary of Kaitoki No. 3 Block, Tahoraiti Survey District, to the Kaitoki-Otope Road; thence northerly along the Kaitoki-Otope Road to the junction of the Dannevirke-Weber Road; thence along the Dannevirke-Weber Road to the Mangatera Stream; and thence along the Mangatera Stream to the place of commencement.

Ngapaeruru Riding.

All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay commencing at the junction of the Manawatu River and the north-eastern corner of Tiratu or Manawatu No. 4D Block; thence southerly along the Manawatu River to its junction with the Mangapuaka Stream; thence along the Mangapuaka Stream to its junction with the Patangata County boundary; thence along the said boundary to the eastern corner of Section 3, Block VIII, Mangatoro Survey District; thence westerly along the boundary of Section 3, Block VIII, Mangatoro Survey District; thence westerly along the boundary of Section 3 to its junction with the Te Uri Road; thence along the Te Uri Road to the north-eastern corner of Small Grazing-run No. 73, Block XII, Mangatoro Survey District; thence southerly and westerly along the boundary of said Section 73 to its junction with the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block XI; thence southerly along the boundaries of Sections 1, Block XI, and 2 and 1, Block XV, Mangatoro Survey District; thence westerly along Section 1, Block XV, to the south-western corner of Section 3, Block XV; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of Sections 4 and 3, Block XIV, to the junction with the Mangamaire Stream; thence along the Mangamaire Stream to its junction with the Mangatoro Stream; thence along the Mangatoro Stream to its junction with the Manawatu River; thence westerly along the Manawatu River to the south-western corner of the Tiratu or Manawatu No. 4D Block; thence northerly along the boundary of the said block to the south-western corner of Section 2, Block IV; thence along the southern boundaries of Sections 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Block IV, Tahoraiti Survey District; thence northerly along the eastern boundaries of Sections 7 and 8; and thence easterly along the Tiratu or Manawatu No. 4D Block to the Manawatu River, being the place of commencement.

Matamau Riding.

All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay commencing at the south-western boundary of the Norsewood Riding, at the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence along the aforesaid riding generally in an easterly direction to the Mangatewainui River; thence southerly down the Mangatewainui River to its junction with the Manawatu River; thence southerly down the Manawatu River to the northern boundary at the Tiratu Block; thence westerly along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of Section 8; thence southerly along the boundaries of Sections 8 and 7; thence westerly along the boundaries of Sections 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2; thence northerly along the boundaries of Sections 2 and 1 to the junction of the Mangatera and Whakaruatapu Streams; thence northerly along the Whakaruatapu Stream to the north-western corner of the Otanga Block; thence from that corner in a westerly direction to the Mangatera Stream and the southern corner of Section 18, Block XIV, Norsewood Survey District; thence northerly along the Mangatera Stream to the corner between Sections 19 and 31, Block VIII, Norsewood Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction in a straight line being the boundary-line between the Umutaoroa and Piripiri Blocks to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence north-easterly along that range to place of commencement.

Norsewood Riding.

All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay commencing at the summit of the Ruahine Range, at the south-western corner of the Waipawa County, and following generally easterly down the Makaretu River to the Waipawa County boundary; thence in a southerly direction to its junction with the old and new main Norsewood-Takapau Roads; thence southerly along the main road to the Manawatu River; thence down the Manawatu River to the north-eastern corner of Section 2; thence along a small stream, being the boundary of the Te Whitia
