THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Entrance to Anderson’s Inlet, Inverlock.
Mariners are hereby notified that the entrance channel over the bar at Inverlock is not now in line with the two leading-beacons, but has shifted eastwards, and extreme care should be exercised in crossing such bar.
The beacons will be altered as soon as possible so as to mark the deepest water.

Notice to Mariners No. 99 of 1911.

THE following Notices to Mariners, received from the Marine Board, Port Adelaide, and from the Colonial Secretary, Perth, W.A., are published for general information.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA.—SPENCER GULF.—WALLAROO BAY.
Masters of vessels and others are hereby informed that on and after the 24th instant a fixed light will be exhibited from an open iron tower erected on the outer end of the Wallaroo Jetty.
The light will show red from S. 28° E. to S. 62°, and green from S. 62° E. to S. 76° E., red from S. 76° E. to N. 67° E. (all bearings from seawards).
The focal plane of the light will be 30 ft. above H.W. springs, and the light will be visible in clear weather at a distance of about seven miles.
The green sector will show the deepest water into Wallaroo Jetty and clear of all dangers.
This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 2389B and 402.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA, NORTH-WEST COAST.
Final Notice.
THE Government of Western Australia gives notice that on and after the 1st August, 1911, a third-order triple-flashing light, making one complete revolution in 15 seconds, producing three flashes of about one-third second duration in quick succession every fifteen seconds, will be exhibited from an iron tower, painted white, erected on Cape Leveque, lat. 16 degrees 23 min. south, long. 122 degrees 55 min. east.
Height of focal plane above high water, 142·4 ft.
Height of tower from base to vane, 43 ft. 6 in.
Angle of illuminated sector, 215 degrees.
Range of visibility from horizon, 13¾ miles.
Charts affected: No. 1047, Cape Ford to Buccaneer Archipelago; No. 1052, Hall Point to Cape Bertholett; No. 475, north-west coast of Australia.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the Marine Board, Hobart, is published for general information.

TASMANIA.
A LIGHT (called the Hope Island light) has been opened on the eastern end of Hope Island (Port Esperance), and another (called the Huon light) at the outer end of One Tree Point, River Huon. The lights are fixed, white, but it is intended to make both occulting at as early a date as possible. Further particulars as to the proposed alteration will be published later on. The towers are square wooden structures, painted white. The lights are unattended, and should they by accident go out there may be some delay in relighting them.

NEW GUINEA.
SOUTH-WEST COAST.—KAJU MERA ISLAND.—SHOALS NORTHWARD.—The commanding officer of the Netherlands Government surveying steamer “Borneo” reports the existence of the following reefs in the bay northward of Kaju Mera Island, New Guinea:—
A reef, 220 yards in extent, with a least depth of 1½ fathoms over it, and surrounded by depths of 17–20 fathoms, on the bearings—
Eastern point of Kaju Mera, 154°.
Point Sewara Sekai, 255°.
A reef, 110 yards in extent, with a least depth of 5 fathoms, surrounded by depths of 16–21 fathoms, on the bearings—
Eastern point of Kaju Mera, 156°.
Northernmost small islet near northern point of Kaju Mera, 267°.
A reef, 330 yards in extent, drying in one spot, is located within the 10-fathom curve, and separated from the coast reef by a channel 8 fathoms deep and 330 yards wide, on the bearings—
Eastern point of Kaju Mera, 164°.
Point Sewara Sekai, 244°.
Approximate position of Point Sewara Sekai: Latitude 4° 1′ 6″ S., longitude 134° 26′ 42″ E.
CHINA.
SOUTH-EAST COAST.—CHILANG POINT.—CHILANG ROCK.—LIGHT ESTABLISHED.—PROVISIONAL LIGHT WITHDRAWN.—The Chinese Government has given notice that on 1st June, 1911, a 1st-order flashing white light, showing 1 group of 3 short flashes in quick succession every 20 seconds, would be established on the summit of Chilang Rock, south-east coast of China, and the provisional intermittent white light every 30 seconds, heretofore exhibited, would be withdrawn.
The light is exhibited 160 ft. above the sea, and should be visible 19 miles except where obscured by the land.
Approx. position: Lat. 22° 39′ N., long. 115° 34′ E.
EAST COAST.—STEEP ISLAND LIGHT-STATION.—CHANGE IN FOG-SIGNAL.—The Chinese Government has given notice that early in June the fog-gun at Steep Island Light-station, east coast of China, would be replaced by a first-class siren. The siren will be elevated 147 ft. above sea-level, and will sound a long and short blast in quick succession every 90 seconds—thus, long blast, 6 seconds, silent 3 seconds, short blast 3 seconds, silent 78 seconds.
Approx. position: Lat. 30° 12′ 42″ N., long. 122° 35′ 20″ E.
CALIFORNIA.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY.—SUISUN BAY.—ARMY POINT.—GAS-BUOY TO BE ESTABLISHED.—About 20th July, 1911, a gas-buoy, painted red and black in horizontal bands, and showing an intermittent white light every 20 seconds—thus, light 10 seconds, eclipsed 10 seconds—will be established off Army Point, Suisun Bay, California, in place of Army Point buoy, a second-class nun, which will be discontinued.
Approx. position: Lat. 38° 3′ N., long. 122° 6′ 8″ W.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY ENTRANCE.—COLOUR OF BUOY TO BE CHANGED.—About 1st August, 1911, the colour of South Shoal buoy, San Francisco Bay entrance, California, will be changed from red and black horizontal stripes to red, numbered 2.

HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
MAUI.—NORTH COAST.—KAHULUI HARBOUR.—CHARACTERISTIC OF LIGHT CHANGED.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 16 (1049) of 1911, further notice is given that on 1st June, 1911, the characteristic of the light on the breakwater, Kahului Harbour, north coast of Maui, was changed from fixed red to flashing white every 7½ seconds—thus, flash 1·5 seconds, eclipsed 6 seconds.
