THE following resolution, made by the Whangarei County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments.

WHANGAREI COUNTY.

Tikipunga Special-rating District.—Special Resolution.

On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Councillor Kernohan, resolved, That, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, and others powers thereto enabling, the Whangarei County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and repayment of principal on a loan of £65, bearing interest at 4¾ per cent. per annum, being a further loan of not more than one-tenth of the amount of the original loan of £676 12s., authorized to be raised by the Whangarei County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, for the purpose of completing the metalling of the main county roads through portion of Block V, Whangarei Survey District (Tikipunga Special-rating District), the said Whangarei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/35 of a penny in the pound on the capital value of all rateable property in the said special-rating district, the boundaries of which are defined and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 7, pages 291–2, 27th January, 1910; such special rate to be an annual-recurring rate in addition to that already struck for the original loan, and shall be payable in one sum yearly on the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was adopted at an ordinary meeting of the Whangarei County Council held on the 9th day of August, 1911; and that the above resolution is a true copy of such resolution as recorded in the minute-book.

THE following resolution, made by the Moa Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

Resolution making a Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1910, and the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, the Moa Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,500, authorized to be raised by consent of the ratepayers interested, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of deviating, forming, and metalling the Upland Road on the north side of the Junction Road, the said Moa Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1¾d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Upland Road North No. 2 Special-rating District, comprising Sections 69, 68, 33, 67, 70, Block XI, Paritutu Survey District; Sections 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 28, Block X, Paritutu Survey District; Sections 63, 64, 65, 75, 61, 62, 74, 76, 77, part 78, part 66, Block III, Egmont Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, and the interest and sinking fund to be paid at the rate of 4¾ per centum per annum, or until the loan is fully paid off, and to pay out of such loan the cost of raising it.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution passed at a duly constituted meeting of the Moa Road Board held on the 19th day of August, 1911.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

HUNTLY ROAD BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on a Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Matahuru Special-rating District taken on the 14th day of August, 1911, on the proposal of the Huntly Road Board to borrow the sum of £2,500 for the purpose of further metalling the roads of the Matahuru Special-rating District, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 36, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 8.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Cable Buoy, Flinders (Western Port).

REFERRING to General Notice to Mariners dated 1st August, 1907, page 94, and Notice to Mariners No. 65, dated 1st April, 1910, mariners and others are hereby notified that it has been reported that a red buoy numbered three (3) with red flag is placed on telegraph cable about two and a half miles south-south-east, close to Seal Rocks.

Morse Lamps at Signal-stations.

Notice is hereby given that on and after the 1st day of August, 1911, the following lighthouses and signal-stations, having been equipped with Morse signalling-lamps, may be communicated with by passing vessels during night-time :—

Messages should be sent according to the rules laid down in the British Signal Manual. It must be clearly understood that the Department accepts no responsibility in respect of either the receipt or despatch by signal-stations or lighthouses of any message requiring delivery at Melbourne or other port. Without interfering with their principal duty of attending to the maintenance of their lights, lightkeepers are instructed to make every effort to assist shipping in regard to such messages.

Kalimna Jetty, Gippsland Lakes.

Referring to General Notice to Mariners dated the 1st August, 1907, page 119, mariners and others are hereby notified that on and after the 4th July, 1911, a light showing white all round, and visible about 1½ miles, will be placed on the end of Kalimna Jetty.
