AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—REMOVAL OF ROCK IN RANGITOTO CHANNEL.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 22nd August, 1911.
REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 57 of 1911, the Auckland Harbour Board have notified that the rock in Rangitoto Channel, 265 yards inside Kaipara Shoal buoy, has now been removed, and has lately been surveyed by a diver from H.M.S. “Challenger.” The diver reports that nothing remains of the patch but a quantity of loose rock lying about the bottom, the least water at lowest spring tides being 26 ft.
As this is well inside the 5-fathom line, and out of the deep-water channel, the Board has decided that operations shall be regarded as completed.
