Situated on the Upper Awakino Valley Road, nine miles from Mahoenui Post-office by formed bridle-track to within one mile and a half of the section.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Sections 4 and 5.—Altitude, 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; 70 acres mixed forest on Section 4, balance fern, maruka, and tutu. Soil inferior to medium, on pumice formation. Section 4 watered by Pongakawa Stream and a spring, and Section 5 by Waitahanui Stream and spring. Situated eight to twelve miles from Pongakawa Post-office by road formed, except the last three miles, which will be constructed shortly.
