AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Second-class Land.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. Broken, precipitous country, covered with heavy mixed forest comprising rata, rimu, tawa, &c., with dense undergrowth, mostly supplejack. Soil of good quality, but liable to slip when cleared, on slate formation; well watered by streams. Situated about nine miles from Marakopa—seven miles formed bridle-track, balance unformed.

A few acres of flat land in each section, balance undulating to broken, covered with heavy mixed forest comprising rata, tawa, matai, pukatea, hinau, and a little rimu and kahikatea, with dense undergrowth of supplejack, mahoe, konini, kiekie, &c. Soil brown and grey papa, fair to good in quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Fronting Mangaotaki-Kiritehere Road, sixteen to nineteen miles from Paemako Post-office, the greater part of which distance is formed bridle-track.

Soil of good quality, on sandstone-and-slate formation; well watered by streams. Situated on the Upper Awakino Valley Road, thirteen to fifteen miles from Mahoenui Post-office by bridle-track formed for about eight miles.

Altitude, 600 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-level. Broken country, covered with heavy mixed forest comprising tawa, rata, rimu, &c., with dense undergrowth of supplejack and shrubs. Papa soil of good quality, on sandstone-and-slate formation; well watered by Awakino River and streams.

Situated on the Upper Awakino Valley Road, nine miles from Mahoenui Post-office by formed bridle-track to within one mile and a half of the section.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Altitude, 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, covered with fern, light maruka, and tutu. Soil of a light nature, inferior to medium in quality, on pumice formation; watered by Pongakawa Stream. Situated five miles from Pongakawa Post-office—two miles and a half by main Tauranga-Opotiki Road, balance formed road available for wheel traffic.

TAURANGA COUNTY.—WAIHI SOUTH SURVEY DISTRICT.

Sections 4 and 5.—Altitude, 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; 70 acres mixed forest on Section 4, balance fern, maruka, and tutu. Soil inferior to medium, on pumice formation. Section 4 watered by Pongakawa Stream and a spring, and Section 5 by Waitahanui Stream and spring. Situated eight to twelve miles from Pongakawa Post-office by road formed, except the last three miles, which will be constructed shortly.
