THE following notice, received from the Council of the
County of Opotiki, is published in accordance with
the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908.

OPOTIKI COUNTY COUNCIL.
Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers
of the County of Opotiki was taken on the 2nd day of
August, 1911, on the proposal of the Opotiki County
Council to borrow the sum of £12,000 for the purposes of
roads and bridges construction. The number of votes re-
corded for the proposal was 164; the number of votes
recorded against the proposal was 70; the number of in-
formal votes was 3.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Board, is published in accordance with the provi-
sions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908.

REMUERA ROAD DISTRICT.
RESULT of poll of ratepayers taken on Wednesday, the 9th
day of August, 1911, on proposals to borrow, under the
provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908, and
amendments thereof, and the New Zealand State-guaran-
teed Advances Act, 1909, and amendments and regulations
made thereunder, and the Public Health Act, 1908, and
amendments, for the purpose of drainage, water-supply,
and street-construction, the sum of £84,000, allocated as
follows—viz., Drainage £40,000, water-supply and street-
construction, £44,000.
I hereby give notice that on the proposal to borrow the
sum of £40,000 for the drainage of the balance of the
unsewered portion of the Remuera Road District, 295
votes were cast for the proposal and 66 against, informal
4; and that, as three-fifths of the total number of valid
votes recorded at the poll were in favour of such proposal,
I hereby declare that such proposal was carried.
I hereby also give notice that on the proposal to borrow
the sum of £44,000 for construction of roads and water-
works, 396 votes were cast for the proposal and 139 against,
informal 9; and, the number of votes recorded in favour
of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total
number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby de-
clare such proposal to be carried.

WAIAPU COUNTY COUNCIL.
Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the Riding of Tokomaru, of the Riding of Waipiro, and
of the Riding of Piritarau, in the County of Waiapu,
was taken on the 3rd day of August, 1911, on the proposal
of the Waiapu County Council (acting as a Harbour Board
in respect of Tokomaru Harbour) to borrow the sum of
£20,000 sterling for the purpose of purchasing from the
Tokomaru Sheep-farmers' Freezing Company (Limited)
and from the Tokomaru Farmers' Co-operative Company
(Limited) the harbour-works respectively constructed by
the said respective companies, for the purchase of land and
erection of buildings, and also for the purpose of construct-
ing such further harbour-works as may be necessary for the
requirements of making a harbour at Tokomaru Bay for
the use of the inhabitants of the County of Waiapu.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 20.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 0.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in
Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me
under the Government Railways Act, 1908, I, John
Andrew Millar, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the
following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and
charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways
open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and
after the 21st day of August, 1911.
PART III.—GOODS : REGULATIONS.

(23.) EMPTY CASES FOR CARRIAGE OF FRUIT, AND SHOOKS
FOR MANUFACTURE OF FRUIT-CASES.
Empty cases, manufactured from New Zealand timber,
consigned direct to fruit-growers—not "returned empties,"
but to be reconsigned over the railway full, and, when so
reconsigned, to contain only New-Zealand-grown fresh
fruit—will be charged as follows :—
Up to 100 miles, free.
For distances over 100 miles, at the rate for returned
empties.
Shooks, New Zealand timber, consigned direct from
mills to fruit-growers for manufacture of cases to be used
for carriage by rail of New-Zealand-grown fresh fruit will
be charged as follows :—
Up to 100 miles, free.
For distances over 100 miles, at the classified rate for
shooks.
Consignment-notes for empty cases, and shooks, carried
under this regulation to be indorsed by senders as fol-
lows : " These cases [or shooks] are to be used for packing
New-Zealand-grown fresh fruit to be conveyed by rail."

fruit, will be charged as follows :—
Up to 100 miles, free.
For distances over 100 miles, at half the classified rate
for Class " B."
Consignment-notes for empty cases, and shooks, carried
under this regulation to be indorsed by senders as fol-
lows :--
" I [we] certify that these cases [or shooks] are con-
signed direct to a bona fide fruit-grower, and are to be
used solely for packing New-Zealand-grown fresh fruit to
be conveyed by rail."
