Weighted with £458, valuation for improvements comprising four-roomed house, cow-shed, stockyard, four sheds, dairy, orchard and vinery, 220 chains fencing, and 108 acres grassing, of which 50 acres is danthonia.

Altitude, 350 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Flat undulating and broken land; 108 acres in grass, 100 acres mixed forest, comprising totara, rimu, towai, taraire, tawa, rewarewa, &c., with heavy undergrowth of mahoe, kotukutuku, makomako, mamaku, punga, nikau, and kiekie; balance fern country. Soil mostly inferior clay, on sandstone formation, but there is about 22 acres of good alluvial land; well watered by streams. Situated three miles from Hukerenui Railway-station by good road.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and eleven; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

HOKIANGA COUNTY.—TUTAMOE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 400 ft. to 550 ft. above sea-level. Half undulating, half broken land, covered with light to heavy mixed forest comprising tawa, rata, rimu, kahikatea, taraire, towai, and totara, with dense undergrowth of kiekie, supplejack, makomako, and ferns. Soil fair to medium in quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated twenty-three miles from Kaihu—twenty-one miles cart-road, balance pack-track.

BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY.—RUAPEKAPEKA PARISH.

Altitude, 10 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Undulating, hilly, and broken land, fern and manuka country, with patches of self-sown grass (danthonia). Soil of inferior quality, clay and semi-volcanic loam, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated three miles from Taumarere Railway-station by rough cart-road.

Soil generally inferior, semi-volcanic and clay, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated four miles from Taumarere Railway-station by rough cart-road.

RAGLAN COUNTY.—WHANGAPE PARISH.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. Undulating fern country, with about 15 acres of scrubby tawa forest. Soil a light loam, fair to medium in quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated nine miles from Awaroa Landing by cart-road.

RANGITIKEI COUNTY.—RUAHINE SURVEY DISTRICT.

LOCALITY AND GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

These sections comprise part of the (Omatane) Awarua 1B Block. They are situated on the eastern side of the Rangitikei River, about opposite Taihape and Utiku, on the Main Trunk Railway.

There are two roads leading to the block. These strike off the main road about midway between Taihape and Utiku. One road goes past the northern end of the block
