Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what
lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently re-
served as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And
whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and
report on the land described in the Schedule hereunder,
and has recommended that the said land should be perma-
nently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to
give effect to such recommendation :
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers con-
tained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be
a scenic reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908,
and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.
LAKE KANIERI SCENIC RESERVE.
ALL that area in the Westland Land District, contain-
ing by admeasurement 19,000 acres, more or less, being
Reserve No. 1177, situated in Blocks VI, VII, XI, XII,
XV, and XVI, Kanieri Survey District. Bounded by a
line commencing at Trig. Station D, Mount Graham;
thence bearing 349° 46′ through Trig. Station E B (Gentle
Annie), distance 34000 links; thence bearing 34°, distance
about 6000 links, to Kanieri Lake Water-race; thence
south-easterly along the said water-race to the north-
eastern corner of Section No. 2230, or the nearest point
thereto; thence south-easterly by a right line to Road
Tube No. LXIV, distance about 16000 links; thence
bearing 162° 52′, distance 14959 links, to Trig. Station L,
(Mount Tuhua); thence bearing 147° 04′, distance 23224
links, to Trig. Station N F; thence south-westerly, bear-
ing 225°, distance 18500 links; thence due south to the
Styx River; thence westerly along the right bank of the
Styx River to the easternmost corner of Section No. 2774;
and thence north-westerly by a right line to Trig. Sta-
tion D, the place of commencement: excluding from the
above-described area Sections Nos. 1699, 1777, 1778, 2017,
2018, 2230, 2233, 2234, 2235, 2310, 2393, 2394, 761, and
Reserve No. 913: as the same is delineated on the plan
marked L. 139, deposited in the Head Office, Department
of Lands, at Wellington.

Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of
New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued
under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908
(hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a
Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is
enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the
Minister charged for the time being with the administra-
tion of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic
or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs,
and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the
Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what
lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently
reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And
whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and
report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder,
and has recommended that the said lands should be perma-
nently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to
give effect to such recommendation :

RUATITI SCENIC RESERVES.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, contain-
ing by admeasurement 255 acres 2 roods, more or less, being
Section 5, Block IX, Manganui Survey District. Bounded
towards the north-west and north-east by Section 4,
Block IX aforesaid; towards the east and south-east
generally by the Ruatiti Stream, and by a road and river-
bank reserve 1 chain in width along the bank of the
Manganui-a-te-ao River; and towards the south-west
generally by Waimarino Native Reserve No. 3, and by
Section 3, Block XII, Whirinaki Survey District: as the
same is delineated on the plan marked L. 480/3B, de-
posited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at
Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
All that area in the Wellington Land District, contain-
ing by admeasurement 100 acres 2 roods, more or less,
being Section 8, Block IX, Manganui Survey District.
Bounded towards the north by Section 9, Block IX afore-
said; towards the north-east and south-east generally by
Section 14, Block IX aforesaid, by a road reserve, by
Section 15, Block IX, and again by a road reserve; and
towards the south-west and north-west generally by Sec-
tion 7, Block IX aforesaid, and by the Raetihi-Ohura
Road: as the same is delineated on the plan marked
L. 480/3B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of
Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
All that area in the Wellington Land District, contain-
ing by admeasurement 18 acres, more or less, being Sec-
tion 16, Block IX, Manganui Survey District. Bounded
towards the north-west, west, and south generally by the
Raetihi-Ohura Road; towards the north-east by part of
Section 5, Block VIII, Whirinaki Survey District; to-
wards the east generally by the Ruatiti Stream; and
towards the south-east by Section 12, Block IX, Manganui
Survey District: as the same is delineated on the plan
marked L. 480/3A, deposited in the Head Office, Depart-
ment of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him
by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Ex-
cellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and
declare that the portion of street described in the Sche-
dule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in
Council, be under the control and management of the
Taumarunui Borough Council.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that portion of street in the Auckland Land District,
Taumarunui Borough, known as the Taumarunui-Ohakune
Road, commencing at the crossing of the North Island
Main Trunk Railway line, and proceeding generally in
an easterly direction through the Township of Taumaru-
nui, and terminating at the road and railway bridge
across the Wanganui River, being a distance of 2 miles
42 chains or thereabouts; as the said portion of street
is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D.
28277, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public
Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial Dis-
trict, and thereon coloured blue.
