Opening National Endowment Land in Auckland Land District for Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WHAKATANE COUNTY.—ROTOMA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 400 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, with patches of inferior ridges between streams; about 60 acres fern land; balance light mixed forest comprising rewarewa, manuka, tawa, and a few rimu-trees; thick undergrowth of scrub. Soil of fair quality, of a sandy nature, on decomposed pumice formation; well watered. Distant about fourteen miles from Matata by formed road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Opening Settlement Land in Auckland Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

Weighted with £49 10s., valuation for improvements comprising whare with iron roof, 62 chains of fencing, orchard and garden, and grassing.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to level land; ½ acre orchard, 2 acres good grass, 20 acres rough grass; balance fern country, with a little light forest, principally tawa, with heavy undergrowth of scrub. Soil of good quality, but stony; fairly watered by small stream. Situated six miles from Te Aroha—four miles and a half formed road, and one mile and a half unformed.

Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-third day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

Section 2.—Altitude, about 400 ft. above sea-level. Broken land; worked-out sawmill-areas; no timber of any commercial value. Well watered; fair soil, on clay formation; 30 acres sown with grass. Distant from Round Hill Post-office and school about two miles and a half, accessible by unformed road, but there are various tramways running through the sections which give sufficient access in the meantime; three miles from Pahia Railway-station.

Sections 70 and 72.—Altitude, 80 ft. to 140 ft. above sea-level. Practically level; small portion swampy, but easily drained; balance good soil, all on clay formation; worked-out sawmill-areas; no timber of any commercial value. Accessible by good unformed road three-quarters of a mile from Ruahine Railway-station and post-office, and one mile and a half from Pahia School.

Sections 37 and 38.—Altitude, from 100 ft. to 130 ft. above sea-level. Broken land; medium to good soil, on clay formation; good pastoral country, well watered; worked-out sawmill-areas; no timber of any commercial value. Accessible
