Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Masterton County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers in the Alfredton Riding of the County of Masterton was taken on the 3rd day of June, 1911, on the proposal of the Masterton County Council to borrow the sum of £350 for rebuilding the Te Hoe Bridge on the Alfredton–Weber Road.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 80. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 18. I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Council of the Borough of Wanganui East, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

BOROUGH OF WANGANUI EAST.

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, that a poll of the ratepayers of the special area hereinafter mentioned, being part of the Borough of Wanganui East, was taken on Thursday, the 15th day of June, 1911, upon the proposal of the Wanganui East Borough Council to raise a special loan of £12,000 for the following purposes; that is to say :—

  1. The providing of a complete system of drainage for that portion of the Wanganui East Borough comprised within the following boundaries, namely: Commencing at the point on the left bank of the Wanganui River on the prolongation of the north-east side of Puna Street; thence by the said side of the said street and the north-east boundaries of Land Transfer deposited plans Nos. 2360, 1395, and 1074 in a straight line to the eastern corner of Lot 62 on the last-mentioned plan; thence by a continuation of the said straight line to the intersection with the north-west boundary of Section 78; thence by the said boundary to the north corner of Section 78; thence by the eastern boundary of Section 78 to the No. 3 Line; thence with the No. 3 Line to the north-east corner of Lot 1 on the Land Transfer deposited plan No. 1320; thence by the east boundary of the said lot to the Matarawa Stream; thence by the Matarawa Stream to the No. 3 Line; thence along the No. 3 Line to the Turoa Road; thence by the south-west side of the Turoa Road to the eastern corner of Lot 18 on Land Transfer deposited plan No. 1981; thence by the south-east boundary of the said lot to the south corner of the said lot; thence by the south-west boundary of Lots 18, 17–2 of the said plan to the No. 3 Line; thence by the No. 3 Line to its junction with the River Bank Road; thence by the River Bank Road to its junction with Georgetti Road; thence to a point on the Wanganui River left bank directly opposite the said junction; thence by the said left bank of the Wanganui River to the point of commencement: which portion of the said borough is hereinafter called “the said special area,” including in such system of drainage the laying of drainage-pipes in the streets within the said special area, and the providing of all appliances, plant, and things necessary or convenient for the efficient working and use of the said drainage system or incidental thereto.

  2. The providing of a water supply or service for the said special area, and the laying of mains for the purpose of such supply from the water-main to the Wanganui Borough at Aramoho to the said special area, and of all plant, appliances, and things necessary or convenient in connection therewith.

  3. The reticulation of water throughout the said special area, including in such reticulation the laying of pipes in the streets within the said special area and the providing of all appliances, plant, and things necessary or convenient thereto or for the efficient working thereof, and the connection of such pipes with the mains.

It is proposed to appropriate and pledge as security for the repayment of the said loan and the interest thereon by the periodical payments required by the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, and the charges and expenses incidental to or connected therewith, an annually recurring special rate of 1s. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property within the said special area; the whole of the said loan to be repaid in manner provided by the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, within thirty-six years and a half from the raising thereof; and that the cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest thereon be not paid out of the said loan.

And that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 102; against the proposal, 6; informal votes, 3.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Notice to Mariners No. 74 of 1911.

HOKITIKA NIGHT-SIGNAL LIGHTS.

Wellington, N.Z., 17th June, 1911.

THE Hokitika Harbour Board have notified that on and after 1st July, 1911, night-signal lights will be shown from the flagstaff on north side of river-entrance and from north and south walls as follows, viz. :—

White light on flagstaff on north “Wait.”
side of river-entrance indicates
White light with red light 3 ft. “Bar unsafe.”
below indicates
White light with green 3 ft. “Bar safe for vessels
below indicates of 7 ft. draught.”
White light with green 3 ft. “Bar safe for vessels
above indicates of 9 ft. draught.”

The green light at present movable from south to north wall and vice versa to remain on south wall.

Orange-coloured light to be shown on end of north wall.

These lights will only be shown when vessels are expected.

No vessel to enter port until the signal-lights above mentioned are shown, notwithstanding that the beacon-lights may be up.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Grocers’ Shops in the Borough of Thames under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the grocers’ shops in the Borough of Thames, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all grocers’ shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of every working-day at 5.30 p.m. (except the statutory half-holiday), and 9 p.m. on Saturdays: And whereas the Thames Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the grocery trade within the Borough of Thames:

Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 1st day of July, 1911, all such shops in the Borough of Thames shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.
