When goods of Classes A, B, C, D, and E are consigned to Invercargill the classified rates will be increased by 1s. 1d. per ton, but such increase will not be made when goods are consigned to private sidings at that station or to the Invercargill Jetty.

MAURITIUS.

PORT LOUIS AND APPROACH.—1. (a.) The main lt., gp. fl. white, with a gp. of 2 fls. every 10 secs.—fl. ¼ sec., ecl. 1½ secs.; fl. ¼ sec., ecl. 8 secs.—elev. 152 ft., R. 20 miles, is exh. from the lt.-h., white with 2 broad red bands, 97 ft. high, in 20° 11½′ S., 57° 24¾′ E., on Caves Pt. (b.) A subsidiary lt., F. red, vis. from S.W. to the land nrd. of the lt., over the anchorage in Port Louis, elev. 99 ft., R. 10 miles, is exh. on N.-ern. side of the lt.-h. Vessels should anchor well within the wrn. limits of this lt. or they will not be in soundings. 2. The red bell buoy, in 20° 8½′ S., 57° 29′ E., on nrn. side of entr. to harb., has been replaced by a conical lt.-buoy, now red and white vert., exh. an occ. white it. 3. The lt.-v. exh. a fl. white lt., on nrn. side of entr. to harb., has been withdrawn. March.

INDIAN OCEAN.

DOUBLE ISL. LT.—About 15th March, 1911, this F. white lt. (15° 52¾′ N., 97° 35¼′ E.) is to be replaced by an occ. white lt. every 20 secs., of increased power. March.

NEW GUINEA.

ARU ISLS.—TANJONG BAIN.—A shoal, carrying 5 fms., exists in 6° 58½′ S., 133° 56¼′ E., 12³⁄₁₀ miles S. 40° W. from 213 ft. summit on Tanjong Bain. March.

ALLISON ISL.—AMENDED POSITION.—This isl. lies in 1° 24′ S., 143° 37½′ E., about 12 miles erd. from the position now shown on the charts. Allison Isl., which is about 1½ cables in extent, is 60 ft. high, and is surrounded by a fringing sandbank. Nov.

BISMARCK ARCHIP.—ABGARRIS ISLS.—The sandbank (1884) in 3° 44′ S., 154° 35′ E., srd. of Abgarris Isls., does not exist, and has been expunged from the charts. Sept.

BISMARCK ARCHIP.—NEW IRELAND.—The F. white lt. (2° 34′ S., 150° 48′ E.) at Kawieng Harb., is not intended for nav., and has been deleted from the charts and list of lts. Oct.

BISMARCK ARCHIP.—ADMIRALTY ISL.—A chain of reefs, probably awash, now known as Petersen Reefs, exist S.-wrd. of Admiralty Isl., and extends 3 miles N. 62° W., and the same dist. S. 66° E., from a position in 2° 25′ S., 146° 12′ E., 17 miles S. 47° E. from Western Isl. CAUTION.—Numerous reefs are reported to exist in the area bounded by Western Isl., S.W. pt. of Admiralty Isl., Sugar Loaf Isl., and Petersen Reefs. A note to this effect has been charted. March.

ASTROLABE BAY.—The red and white leading-lts. at Stephansort (5° 28′ S., 145° 43¼′ E.) and at Erima Harb. (5° 24½′ S., 145° 42¼′ E.) are not intended for nav., and have been deleted from the charts and list of lts. Oct.

GEELVINK BAY.—1. Ansus Road.—A reef, carrying 3 fms., is reported to exist 6½ cables N. 37° E. from the beacon (1° 45¾′ S., 135° 44½′ E.) on Kambeppi Pt., Key Ari Isl. 2. Geelvink Strait—A reef is reported to exist in 1° 30¼′ S., 135° 40′ E., about 7 miles N. 75° W. from the wrn. entr. of Abai Isl. March.

MASTERS of vessels, pilots, and others are hereby informed that arrangements are being made for the erection at an early date of unattended long-burning “A.G.A.” lights on the undermentioned dangers:—

Spencer Gulf.

Dangerous Reef ... ... 34° 49′ S. 136° 12½′ E.
Shoalwater Point ... ... 33° 40′ S. 137° 13′ E.
Wedge Island ... ... 35° 10½′ S. 136° 29′ E.
Winceby Island ... ... 34° 29½′ S. 136° 17′ E.

West Coast.

Flinders Island ... ... 33° 41′ S. 134° 30½′ E.
Price Island ... ... 34° 42½′ S. 135° 17′ E.
Bird Rock, Murat Bay ... 31° 49′ S. 133° 37½′ E.
Streaky Bay (South Channel) 32° 41½′ S. 134° 10′ E.

The latitudes and longitudes are only approximately correct.

It is also intended to exhibit on Middle Bank, Spencer Gulf, from a fixed structure, an unattended long-burning “A.G.A.” light in place of that now shown from the lightship.

Further notices giving details will be issued in due course.

This affects Admiralty Charts 1061 and 2389A and b.

KANGAROO ISLAND, SOUTH COAST.—VIVONNE BAY, ELLEN POINT.

MASTERS of vessels and others are informed that in connection with the new jetty at Vivonne Bay it is proposed to shortly exhibit a long-burning unwatched “A.G.A.” light from Ellen Point, Vivonne Bay.

Latitude 36° 0½′ S., longitude 137° 9½′ E. approximately.

A further notice giving more definite information will be issued in due course.

This affects Admiralty Chart 2389A.
