Opening National Endowment Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fourth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Soil of fair quality, on pipe-clay subsoil; well watered by springs and a small stream. Situated eight miles and a half from Katikati—six miles coach-road, remainder rough bullock-dray road, unformed.

Weighted with £50, valuation for improvements.
Rough hilly land, intersected by deep gullies. There are good sunny faces and small flats near the road, sufficient for homestead-sites. Access is from Waitotara, which is about twenty miles distant by the Waitotara Valley and Mangawhio Roads, which are formed for wheel traffic to the section. The soil is from fair to good, on sandstone and papa. The forest is medium, heavy, comprising tawa, rata, hinau, rimu, rewarewa, kahikatea, and birch on the ridges. Watered by small streams. There is a post and telegraph office opposite the land.
The improvements comprise about 145 acres felled and grassed (now grown up in fern, &c.), and a whare in bad repair.
