Arrangements for taking Poll respecting Proposed Borough of Fendalton, County of Waimairi.

ISLINGTON, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of March, 1911.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE JAMES CARROLL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct that a poll shall be taken on the proposal contained in a petition signed by certain ratepayers of the Fendalton Riding of the County of Waimairi praying that the area set out in the said petition, and described in the Schedule hereto, may be constituted a borough under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908; and, further, doth hereby make the following appointments and arrangements for the purpose of taking the said poll:—

  1. Gordon Harcourt O’Callaghan, of Christchurch, to be the Returning Officer for the purpose of taking the said poll, and also to be the person authorized to prepare a voters roll of the persons entitled to vote at the said poll.

  2. The voters roll prepared and signed by the said Gordon Harcourt O’Callaghan shall be the voters roll to be used at the said poll.

  3. The said poll shall be taken on Thursday, the twentieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

  4. The said poll shall be taken as nearly as may be in the manner provided by the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, and the Returning Officer hereby appointed shall be deemed to be a Returning Officer appointed for the purposes of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF FENDALTON.

COMMENCING at a point on the south side of Webb’s Road at its junction with the Wairarapa Road, thence south-west along Webb’s Road to its junction with Ilam Road, thence along Ilam Road to the River Avon; thence easterly along the north bank of the Avon to its junction with Park Road, thence along the south side of Park Road to its junction with the River Avon again at Bealey Avenue; thence westerly along the south side of the River Avon to Rossall Street, thence along the west side of Rossall Street to Wairarapa Terrace, thence along the north side of Wairarapa Terrace to the Wairarapa Stream, thence along the Wairarapa Stream and a tributary of it north-westerly to the south side of Norman’s Road; thence north-westerly along the south side of Wairarapa Road to the commencing point.

Time for Preparation of Buller County Roll under Section 46 of the Rating Act, 1908, extended.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of March, 1911.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE JAMES CARROLL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the County Council of the Buller County having failed through misadventure to prepare the valuation roll of mining property in the Buller County in the month of January, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, as required by section forty-six of the Rating Act, 1908, it is expedient to extend the time for preparing the said roll as hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in order that the purpose and intent of the said Rating Act, 1908, may have effect, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the time for the preparation of the valuation roll for the Buller County under the Rating Act, 1908, until the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eleven; and doth also hereby extend the time within which the valuers shall give notice of the rateable value determined by them to each occupier, so that such notices may be given on or before the twentieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eleven; and that objections to such valuations may be made on or before the fifteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

WHEREAS by the thirtieth section of the Public Works Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that if it is found that any land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under this or any other Act or Provincial Ordinance, or otherwise howsoever for any public work, is not required for such public work, the Governor may, by Order in Council publicly
