measurement, number, or quantity mentioned in the second column of the second schedule hereto shall be deemed to be 1 ton weight of the material, produce, merchandise, or goods of the description mentioned and set opposite to such measurement, number, or quantity in the first column of such second schedule.

Any person authorized by the Board, or any constable or police officer may, for the purpose of ascertaining if the provisions of this by-law are being complied with, at any time stop and detain any engine or vehicle which in his opinion infringes this by-law, until the width of the tires or the weight of such engine or vehicle and the load thereon, or the weight or measurement of the contents thereof, can be ascertained.

The driver of any engine or vehicle which shall be driven or taken over or be on any such road as aforesaid shall give to any person authorized as aforesaid such information as to the load or contents of any such engine or vehicle, and the quantity, weight, or measurement of the same, and shall do all such acts for the purpose of enabling the same to be ascertained as such authorized person requests.

No horses, cattle, engine, or vehicle shall cross or be driven, led, or taken over any bridge in the Werekino Road District at a greater pace than three miles per hour.

The Road Board may by notice in writing call upon any person engaged in heavy traffic over any road to enter into a bond with the Board, to enure for the benefit of the Road Board, with or without a surety or sureties to be approved by the Road Board, as the Road Board may by such notice determine, conditioned for duly repairing and making good to the satisfaction of the Road Board any special damage resulting from such heavy traffic; and the bond shall be in a penalty to be fixed by the Board, not exceeding the sum of £200; and no such person after being called upon by the Board to enter into such bond, with such sureties (if any) as may be required as aforesaid, shall engage in heavy traffic until he complies with the requirements of this clause.

Any person committing a breach of any of these clauses shall be deemed guilty of an offence, and shall be liable upon conviction for any such breach to a penalty not exceeding £5.

The above by-law shall come into operation on the publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Made by the Rodney County Council, by Adoption of the Resolution at a Special Meeting held on the 23rd November, 1910, and confirmed on the 5th January, 1911.
That the boundaries of Tauhoa Riding be extended to take in Section 1, Block XVI, Otamatea Survey District, and restricted to exclude Section 55, Tauhoa Parish.
That the boundary of Mahurangi Riding be extended to take in Section 55, Tauhoa Parish.
That the boundaries of Hoteo Riding be restricted to exclude Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 31, 25, and 26, Block XVI, Otamatea Survey District.
That the boundaries of Albert Riding be extended to take in, under the name of the Albert Outlying District, Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 31, 25, and 26, Block XVI, Otamatea Survey District.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and the Road Boards Act, 1908, the Avondale Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £15,500, authorized to be raised by the Avondale Road Board, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the grading, widening, and metalling of the following roads in the Avondale Road District—namely, Great North Road, Rosebank Road, Manakau Road, New Windsor Road, Blake Street, East Street, and Brown Street—the said Avondale Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 7d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Avondale Road District, comprising the whole of the said district; and that such special rate shall be an annual-
