Regulations for Deer-shooting, Waitaki.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in the Waitaki-Waimate Acclimatization District, comprising the Counties of Waitaki and Waimate and part of the County of Mackenzie, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.

REGULATIONS.

  1. RED-DEER stags may be taken or killed within the Waitaki-Waimate Acclimatization District from the 1st day of April, 1911, to the 20th day of May, 1911 (both days inclusive).

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Oamaru, on the recommendation of the secretary of the Waitaki Branch of the Waitaki and Waimate Acclimatization Society, at Oamaru, on payment of a license fee of £3, in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and the regulations made thereunder.

  3. No licensee shall take or kill more than four stags, and no stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than eight points. Ball cartridge only to be used.

  4. An additional license to take or kill red-deer stags may be issued to any person at a fee of £1, and no holder of such additional license shall take or kill more than two stags under or by virtue of such license, and no stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than eight points. Ball cartridge only to be used.

  5. No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  6. The licensee must give notice to the said Chief Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date.

  7. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  8. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding £20.

Lands temporarily reserved as Resting-places for Travelling Stock in the Hawke’s Bay Land District.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned :

And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments :

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Acts aforesaid, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Hawke’s Bay Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, as resting-places for travelling stock.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being Section No. 10, Block XIV, Opoti Survey District (Clydebank Settlement). Bounded towards the north and west by a public road, and towards the south-east and south-west by Section No. 5 of said Block XIV; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 19406/66, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being Section No. 7, Block XVII, Opoti Survey District (Clydebank Settlement). Bounded towards the north-west and north-east by Section No. 1, Block XVII aforesaid; towards the south-east by Paeroa le No. 8 Block; and towards the south-west by the Wairoa–Frasertown Road : as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 19406/73, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this tenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being Section No. 51, Block VI, Awamoko Survey District (Windsor Park Settlement). Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 552·1 links; and towards the east, south, and west by Section No. 4A of said settlement, 286·5, 500, and 517·5 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less : as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1672/4, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this tenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for other Land.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-two of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act,
