Notices of Requests to amend Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 3rd February, 1911.

REQUESTS for leave to amend the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been received, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time from one month from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the amendments. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 25425.—A. L. J. Tait. Flax-treatment. (Advertised in Supplement to New Zealand Gazette, No. 106, of the 16th December, 1909.)
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows:—
(1.) To insert, after page 5 of the specification, the following additional sheet of descriptive matter:—
Fig. 12B shows an alternative feed in which the partition-brackets forming the auxiliary chute H³ which is raised and lowered by thumb-screws with bolts and slotted holes in brackets. This allows for thicker and thinner leaves to be controlled properly, in unison with the action of the double cam W, operating alternately with the movement of the drag-wheel or chains. The leading driving-wheels driving it by sprocket wheel and chain connections, timed to suit action of drag-wheel and chain operated by lever C⁶ and pawl C⁵. The arms of leading catcher, on its chain shown in Fig. 2 under stripper, to be hinged as in machine (Patent No. 20229), with a “v” front of catcher tray or arm, operating along rest-board to feed wet machine. Spindle K is not used when driving catcher by a horizontal spindle, sprocket and chain-gear-toothed wheels working catchers on horizontal spindles and vertical wheels instead of those shown on drawing in Fig. 2. In the bottom of chute H, I provide a pair of bevel-shaped fluted rollers marked D⁴, with driving-means driven by sprocket and chain connection with spindles C⁴. In Fig. 12c the lower grab-chain W² of feed-arrangement is used to lift the leaves in addition to forcing them into or along the auxiliary chute, having a cover H⁴ as guide at side of feed-box as marked H³. In Fig. 2 the catcher-arms and rollers marked Lx are to be hinged, and preferably driven on horizontal spindles and sprocket chains as above mentioned. In Fig. 3 the hinged arms to be “H” shaped, with the one end of same hinged to fall over hank-post or table.
(2.) To add to the drawings two explanatory figures, marked “12B” and “12C.”
The applicant states that his reason for making the amendment is to further explain by the description the action of some of the parts of the invention.
