Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-third day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eleven; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Pastoral land, covered with mixed forest, comprising towai, tawa, taraire, and kohekohe, with some kahikatea in gullies, also miro, rata, hinau, puriri, mahoe, hoihere, and rangiora, with undergrowth of raurekau, hangihangi, toetoe, and kiekie; spurs are broad and good-shaped generally, but rough in places, while gullies are rocky towards their sources. Soil a dark loam on a strong deep subsoil, stony in places; well watered by permanent stream. Situated about four miles from Broadwood Post-office by road, partly formed and partly in course of construction.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-seventh day of September, one thousand nine hundred and ten.

Altitude, from 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land covered with fern and scrub; soil of inferior second-class quality on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams. Situated seven miles from Kawakawa by fair road.

BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY.—RUAPEKAPEKA PARISH.

Altitude, from 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Half undulating land; balance very broken; about 60 acres mixed forest in gullies, remainder fern and scrub; forest comprises towai, taraire, and tawa, and enough kauri and totara for fencing purposes; undergrowth of toi grass, supplejack, and bush ferns. Soil of inferior second-class quality on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated about seven miles from Kawakawa by fair road.

Altitude, from 250 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. One-third undulating land, remainder not high, but lumpy and difficult to work; all covered with fern and manuka, and intersected by small swamps. Soil of fair quality on sandstone formation; fairly well watered. Distant about seven miles from either Kawa Railway-station or Kihikihi by formed road to within half a mile of the section, thence by surveyed road not yet formed.

Open country, covered with fern, manuka, and tutu; half undulating and flat land, half steep hills; contains a few acres of swamps, and two or three very small clumps of light mixed forest. Soil of good quality on sandstone formation; fairly well watered by the Mangakaeo Stream. Distant about six miles from either Kawa Railway-station or Kihikihi by formed road.
