Opening Lands in Otago Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the tenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and ten, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—TUAPEKA COUNTY.—GREENVALE SURVEY DISTRICT.
First-class Land.

Section Block. Area. Capital Value. Half-yearly Rental.

The section is somewhat broken up by small gullies in the south end; general aspect is southerly or south-easterly. The land is of fair quality, and contains a large proportionate area of heavy birch bush. Along the northern end an area of the bush was burned out some time ago, and, as only a little underscrub and a few trunks remain, this part will not be difficult to clear.

54 | I | 68 3 0 | 140 0 0 | 2 16 0

This section has a good soil, and the general aspect is towards the north-east. There is not much heavy timber left, owing to a number of fires in the past.

55 | I | 68 2 32 | 120 0 0 | 2 8 0

The soil on this section is of fair quality; a gully traverses the entire length of the section, and this gully is steep and broken towards the southern end. More than half the area has a good easterly aspect, and the remainder has a westerly exposure. Only a small area remains under bush, and the rest of the section can be easily cleared.

These sections are subdivisions of “Wooded Hill.” They are situated about four miles from the Town of Tapanui, and within a short distance of Kelso Railway-station.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and ten.

Minister of Lands
