CLUTHA COUNTY.—CATLINS SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £28, valuation for improvements, consisting
of two-roomed house and clearing.

This section is rough, and much broken by three gullies
running through it from east to west. Soil of fair quality.
About two-thirds of the area has a sunny aspect, the re-
mainder lying towards the south. The southerly faces of the
ridges are steep, but the northerly faces have a better slope.
Timber consists of kamai, some trees of which are very large,
red pine, broad-leaf, &c. A large proportion of the timber is
light, and can easily be cleared. Situated about three miles
from Owaka and about four miles from a creamery. With
the exception of about a mile near the section, the road is a
very fair one.

This section has a very fair soil. Most of the area lies
towards the south. The bush is fairly heavy. Situated about
three miles and a half from Ratanui and about five miles
from Catlins Railway-station on a formed road.

Weighted with £154 10s., valuation for improvements,
consisting of two-roomed house, felling, and clearing.

This section is under heavy bush, consisting largely of
kamai. The land is of very fair quality, but somewhat steep
and broken. The greater part has a westerly and north-
westerly aspect, and the remainder lies towards the south.
Situated about four miles from Ratanui and about five miles
from Catlins Railway-station. There is a formed road to the
section.

this nineteenth day of July, one thousand nine
hundred and ten.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or
Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities con-
ferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder
Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, having received the report of the
Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare
that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be
open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the twenty-seventh
day of September, one thousand nine hundred and ten ; and
also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at
the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be
selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renew-
able lease ; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the
said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned
in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said
lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to
the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Altitude, 250 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
level land covered with scrub ; soil stiff loam to pipeclay,
from fair to inferior in quality, on sandstone formation ;
watered by small watercourses, dry in summer. Situated
about four miles from Maungakaramea Wharf by dray-road.

OTAMATEA COUNTY.—HUKATERE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £99, valuation for improvements, consist-
ing of house, outbuildings, 20 acres cleared and grassed, three
acres ploughed and planted with grape-vines, 150 chains of
fencing.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 180 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
level land, half fern and scrub, with a few manuka and
puriri trees; balance cleared and grassed some years ago,
but now somewhat overgrown with scrub. Soil loam and
clay on sandstone formation ; watered by small streams and
wells. Situated about four miles from Matakohe by formed
road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of July, one thousand nine
hundred and ten.

Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on
Renewable Lease.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selec-
tion on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-seventh day
of September, one thousand nine hundred and ten, at the
rental mentioned in the said Schedule ; and I do also declare
that the said land shall be leased under and subject to
section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as it
contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valu-
able stone.

to level land ; about 50 acres in grass, balance covered with
ferns and manuka scrub ; soil of a sandy nature of fair
quality on sandstone formation. Fronts the Bay of Plenty,
about eight miles from Papamoa Post-office by fairly good
dray-road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of July, one thousand nine
hundred and ten.
