This section is situated in the Retaruke Valley, access being from Waimarino Railway-station, which is about seven miles distant by a formed bridle-track. Rough and hilly land, with occasional small flats; soil of fairly good quality, on a sandstone formation. Forest medium heavy, of usual mixed kind; fairly well watered by streams. Elevation ranges from 1,000 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.

Opening Land in Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

This section is situated in the Waimarino (Retaruke) Block, access being from Raurimu, which is about fifteen miles distant, seven miles being by a formed dray-road, the remaining distance by a formed bridle-track. The section comprises hilly and broken land, with patches of easy and flat land. The soil is of fairly good quality, somewhat light, on sandstone and papa formation. The forest is fairly heavy, comprising tawa, rata, rimu, hinau, miro, rewarewa, &c., with a thick undergrowth of usual kind. Well watered by streams. The elevation ranges from about 600 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level.

Bush land, somewhat steep and broken in places. The timber generally is birch. The soil is light and good. General aspect is southerly. Situated within easy distance of the Catlin’s Railway, which is now in course of construction. The north-east corner of Block VII is about eight miles from Owaka Railway-station.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and ten, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.
