Street, Te Aroha, and approaches thereto, as set forth in the Governor's Warrant gazetted on page 916 of the New Zealand Gazette, 1908; the proposed security for such loan to be a special annual-recurring rate for thirty-six years and one-half of ¾d. in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of annual value) of the rateable property in the Borough of Te Aroha, such providing for payment of half-yearly instalments of £2 8s. 9d. per cent., being paid for the period aforesaid, to pay off the loan, and constitutes the provision for repayment thereof, and the cost of raising such loan to be paid thereout, but not the interest for the first year.
SPECIAL ORDER NO. 2.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908, and by section 119 of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Te Aroha Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £400, authorised to be raised by the said Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, from the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Office Superintendent for a period of thirty-six years and one-half at £2 8s. 9d. per cent. per half-year for the purpose of providing the Council's share of the cost of completing the construction of that bridge over the Waihou River at Te Aroha, at the foot of Kenrick Street, Te Aroha, and approaches, as set forth in the Governor's Warrant, gazetted on page 916 of the New Zealand Gazette, 1908, the said Te Aroha Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¾d. in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of annual value) of all the rateable property of the Te Aroha Borough, comprising all lands with the boundaries thereof gazetted on page 686 of the New Zealand Gazette, 1898; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and one-half, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above special orders were duly adopted at a special meeting of the Te Aroha Borough Council held on the 23rd day of March, 1910, and were duly confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Council held on the 27th day of April, 1910.

BOROUGH OF DEVONPORT.
In the matter of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments.
Notice is hereby given that on the 13th day of April, 1910, a proposal was submitted by the Devonport Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Devonport for raising a special loan of £33,450, for (1) the sum of £3,800 with which to construct and establish public conveniences and baths in the borough; (2) the sum of £300 towards providing of a manual training school in the said borough; (3) the sum of £3,000 with which to provide for the drainage of Victoria Park; (4) the sum of £1,000 with which to provide for the further drainage of Stanley Bay; (5) the sum of £1,000 with which to construct a trench and embankment across Melrose Park; (6) the sum of £10,950 with which to construct, repair, metal, and grade certain public roads and streets within the borough (and making provision for the drainage of storm water), and to provide for the purchase of a steam road roller; (7) the sum of £2,500 with which to construct a retaining-wall along the foreshore, Queen's Parade; (8) the sum of £2,700 with which to purchase additional land for the purpose of enlarging the O'Neill's Point Cemetery; (9) the sum of £8,000 with which to construct a reservoir in the said borough; (10) the sum of £200 with which to provide for the erection of a morgue: and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposals was as follows:—

RANGITAIKI DRAINAGE BOARD.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers in a special-rating area, called the Western Area, being a portion of the Tarawera Subdivision of the Rangitaiki Drainage District, was taken on the 25th day of April, 1910, on the proposal of the Rangitaiki Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £1,700 for the construction of drains and embankments, and the repayment to settlers of sums advanced by them in anticipation of this loan and already expended on similar works within the said special-rating area.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 10. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
