rata, tawa, towai, miro; dense undergrowth of kiekie, toetoe,
supplejack, bush-ferns, and shrubs. Soil of second-class
quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated
about eighteen miles from Taheke; all a fair cart-road,
except half a mile yet unformed.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
to broken land, covered with heavy mixed forest, comprising
rimu, rata, towai, maire, hinau; dense undergrowth of
nikau, kiekie, supplejack. Soil of fair second-class quality,
on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams.
Situated on main coach-road from Kaihu to Taheke, about
eighteen miles from Kaihu Railway-station, and twenty
miles from Taheke.

Altitude, 600 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
land, covered with heavy mixed forest, comprising rimu,
rata, towai; dense undergrowth of nikau, kiekie, and
shrubs. Soil of fair second class quality, on sandstone
formation; well watered by streams. Situated about twelve
miles from Waimamaku—six miles fair road, four miles
formed track, two miles unformed.

Altitude, from 700 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. High table-
land, covered with mixed forest—rimu, towai, rata, and
dense undergrowth of kiekie, and toi-grass. Soil rests on
sandstone formation; principal water-supply derived from
copious rainfall. Fronts main Takeke-Opanake coach-
road, about twelve miles from Taheke.

Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
land, covered with mixed forest. Forest comprises rimu,
rata, towai, with dense undergrowth. Soil of second-class
quality, on sandstone formation; fairly watered by small
streams. Situated about seventeen miles from Taheke by
fair cart-road.

Opening Land in Marlborough Land District for Sale or
Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I,
William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion
of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-
Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred
and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for
sale or selection on Monday, the eighth day of August, one
thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the land men-
tioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the appli-
cant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with
right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also
fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or
leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do
declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased
under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act,
1908.”

Situated within a few chains of the Blenheim-Nelson
main coach-road; about nine miles from the Village of
Canvastown, and seventeen miles from Havelock.

The section rises to an altitude of about 900 ft., and com-
prises about 85 acres of flats and terraces of fairly good soil,
suitable for dairy-farming; the balance of the section is
fair and suitable for sheep. The creeks contain a good
supply of water in winter, but are liable to dry up in sum-
mer.

The milling timber has been removed from about 360
acres, and where fires have swept grass-seed has been sown,
with extremely satisfactory results.

The newly erected Rai Valley Dairy Factory is within
5 chains of the section.

this twelfth day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and ten.

Renewable Lease.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I,
William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described
in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on re-
newable lease on Wednesday, the eighth day of June,
one thousand nine hundred and ten, at the rental men-
tioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the
said land shall be leased under and subject to section
one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as it contains,
or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable.

and brown-birch bush. Underscrub consists of broadleaf,
fivefinger, pepperwood, &c. Formation granite. Section
suitable for pastoral purposes. Situated sixteen miles from
the Township of Murchison, eight of which is a dray-road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of March, one thousand
nine hundred and ten.
