Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Altitude, 900 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to level land; mostly overrun by bush-fires; forest remaining comprises tawa, taraire, birch, rata, and a few dry kauri and totara trees sufficient for building and fencing; undergrowth of kiekie and ferns. Soil, loam and clay of fair quality; water obtained by sinking. Situated five miles from Kaihu Railway-station by formed road.

Weighted with £102 6s. 6d., valuation for totara timber.

Altitude, 600 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, with some level patches; 20 acres overrun by fires two years ago and since grassed; balance covered with mixed forest, comprising rimu, kahikatea, totara, taraire, rata, birch, miro, and tawa; light undergrowth of kiekie, supplejack, and ferns. Soil, loam and clay of fair quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by stream. Situated about eight miles from Kaihu Railway-station by formed road.

Weighted with £141 7s. 6d. for 18,891 sup. ft. (more or less) of kauri timber and 263,860 sup. ft. (more or less) of totara timber.

Altitude, 600 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to level land; mostly old kauri workings; about 160 acres overrun by fire about two years ago and grassed; balance green forest, comprising kauri, totara, taraire, rata, miro, tawa, and birch; light undergrowth of ferns and kiekie. Soil, loam and clay of fair quality, on sandstone formation. Situated about eight miles from Kaihu Railway-station by formed road.

Altitude, 200 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Broken to undulating land, covered with fern and scrub; soil of a sandy nature, on pumice formation; well watered by large stream. Situated on the Rotoehu-Pikowai Road, distant about ten miles from Matata—nine miles by formed road, one mile as yet unformed.

Undulating to broken land, covered with heavy mixed forest, comprising tawa, towai, hinau, rimu, and rata; heavy undergrowth of mahoe, kotukutuku, makomako, punga, and supplejack. Soil of good quality, on limestone formation; well watered by small stream. Fronts Mangaotaki Road, about twenty-seven miles from Te Kuiti—twenty-two miles formed dray-road, six miles being metalled, balance formed 6 ft. bridle-track in good order.
