As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal is in excess of three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Notifying Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District subject to “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1908.”

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1908,” I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Tongoio Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Act, is subject to the said Act, as from 15th February, 1910.


SCHEDULE.

TONGOIO SETTLEMENT.

ALL that piece or parcel of land, situated in Blocks I, Tongoio, and IV, Puketapu Survey Districts, Hawke’s Bay Land District, and containing by admeasurement 8,433 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by the Arapawanui Block, 1050·2 links, again towards the north and north-east by the Waipatiki Stream to the sea-coast; thence towards the south-east by the sea-coast to the northern boundary of Section 3 (Landing Reserve, Whakaari), Block III, Tongoio Survey District; thence towards the south generally by the aforesaid Landing Reserve, 1279·8 links, Waipahihi Stream, and the sea-coast to the north boundary of the Tongoio South Block; thence generally towards the south-west by the aforesaid Block, 554 links, and the Te Ngaru Stream; thence towards the west by the Rawiri-kakomuka Stream to the south boundary of Section 2 (scenic reserve), Block IV, Puketapu Survey District; thence towards the north, west, and south by the aforesaid reserve, 6149·2 links; thence towards the west by the Rawiri-kakomuka Stream and Purahotangihia Block, 12537·8 links, to the point of commencement. Be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less.

And as the aforesaid areas are more particularly shown on the plan marked L. and S. 19399, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, in Wellington, and thereon edged with red.

Notifying Land in the Otago Land District subject to “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1908.”

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1908,” I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Matakanui Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Act, is subject to the said Act, as from 28th February, 1910.


SCHEDULE.

MATAKANUI SETTLEMENT.

ALL those parcels of land, situated in the Otago Land District, containing together 1,177 acres and 17·8 perches, more or less, being part of Section 1, Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, and 41, Block III, Lauder District.

Firstly: Bounded towards the north by a public road, 7689·9 links; towards the east by a public road, 3614·3 links; towards the south by Section 9, 3845 links; towards the east by said Section 9, 5201·5 links, across a public road 100 links, thence by Section 8, 5201·5 links; towards the south by Section 2, 3845 links; towards the west by a public road, 5201·5 links, across a public road 100 links, thence again by a public road, 8815·8 links, to the commencing-point.

Secondly: Bounded towards the north by Section 12, 2336·8 links, across a public road 100 links, thence due north by a public road, 922 links; towards the north by a public road, 7690 links; towards the east by a public road, 5201·5 links; towards the south by Sections 22 and 23, Block II, Tiger Hill District, 6940·1 links; towards the south-west and west by other part of aforesaid Section 1, 438·4 links; towards the south by the aforesaid other part of Section 1, 199 links; towards the east by the said other part of Section 1, 375 links; towards the south by Section 22 aforesaid, 392·9 links, across a public road 100 links, thence again by a public road, 2336·8 links; towards the west by Section 16, Block III, Lauder District, 4279·5 links, to the commencing-point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less, and excepting out of the above boundaries all public roads: as shown on the map deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, numbered L. and S. 44289, whereon the above-described areas are bordered with a green colour.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Tauakira and Waipakura Survey Districts for Scenery-preservation Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1908,” to take for scenery-preservation purposes the land described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Koriniti, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, Wellington.
