to the River Heathcote, thence along the River Heathcote
to the north-eastern corner of Rural Section 49, thence
westerly along Tennyson Street to the starting-point, and
comprising Rural Sections 21 and 49, Block XV, Christ-
church Survey District; and that such special rate shall be
an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan,
and be payable yearly on the 1st day of March in each and
every year during the currency of such loan, being a period
of twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens
of the City of Christchurch was hereto affixed in the pre-

the Rangitaiki Drainage Board, is published in accord-
ance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1908.”

RANGITAIKI DRAINAGE BOARD.
RESULTS of the polling on the several loan proposals enume-
rated below, viz:—
£2,800, for works in Eastern Special-rating Area, Tara-
wera Subdivision: For, 9; against, 5: total, 14.
£1,000, for works in Island Special-rating Area, Tarawera
Subdivision: For, 4; against, nil.
£500, for main drain, Matata Special-rating Area, Matata
Subdivision: For, 2; against, nil.
£5,000, for diversion of Rangitaiki River from Warbrick’s
bend to the sea, and works appertaining thereto: For, 40;
against, nil.
February 28th, 1910.
The number of votes cast for the proposal being in each
case at least three-fifths of the total recorded, the four
several proposals are hereby declared carried.

HASTINGS BOROUGH COUNCIL.
In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”
I, JOHN ANDERSON MILLER, Mayor of the Borough of
Hastings, hereby give notice that on the 2nd day of
March, 1910, a poll of the ratepayers of the said borough
was duly held and taken on a proposal of the Council
of the said borough to raise a special loan of £85,000 for the
following purposes, the amount applicable to each such pur-
pose being set opposite the statement of each such pur-
pose respectively, namely:—
(1.) To supply the Borough of Hastings with a high-
pressure water-supply, and an electric light-and
power installation, including the acquisition of
any land or buildings which may be neces-
sary, £40,000.
(2.) To extend and make alterations in the sewerage
system of the borough, £30,000.
(3.) For the construction of kerbed, channelled, and
asphalted footpaths, and for the construction
of streets, £15,000.
At such poll the number of votes recorded was as fol-
lows: For the proposal, 1,000; against the proposal, 62;
informal, 10.
Wherefore I declare the said proposal to be duly carried.

Notice to Imprestees under “The Public Revenues Act, 1908.”

Wellington, 28th February, 1910.
EVERY officer holding advances of public money is
hereby required to pay to the Public Account, at
the nearest branch of the Bank of New Zealand, the unex-
pended balance of his account on or before Thursday,
the 31st March proximo, and forthwith to transmit to
the Treasury at Wellington the bank receipt for such repay-
ment, together with an account of his expenditure to the
same date, as required by clause 4 of the Treasury Regu-
lations.
As respects disbursements which officers may require to
make immediately after the close of the financial year,
requisitions for the amount required are to be made in
such time as to enable them to reach Wellington not later
than the 15th March, so that the requisite funds may be
placed at the disposal of the officer as soon after the 1st
April as possible.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of a Road through
Parangarahu Native Reserve, Wellington Land District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
under the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works
Act, 1908,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto
was duly taken and laid off through the land specified in
the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of
the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 14th day of
February, 1910.

CAPE COLONY. — SIMONS BAY. — INTENDED LIGHT. — TEM-
PORARY LIGHT TO BE WITHDRAWN. — Referring to Notice to
Mariners No. 10 (459) of 1907, further information has been
received that about the 1st January, 1910, the temporary
fixed red light exhibited on the northern elbow of the
eastern breakwater, Simons Bay, Cape Colony, would be
replaced by an intermittent light every 10 seconds, with white
and red sectors, visible 9 miles.
Approx. position: Lat. 34° 11′ 15″ S., long. 18° 26′ 30″ E.
