HAUAIIAN ISLANDS.
OAHU.-HONOLULU HARBOUR ENTRANCE.-BUOYS TO BE REPLACED BY GAS BUOYS.-About the 15th February, 1910, outside entrance bell buoy, Honolulu Harbour entrance, Hawaiian Islands, will be replaced by outside entrance gas buoy, painted red and marked "Honolulu 2," exhibiting an intermittent red acetylene light.
On the same date, entrance buoy No. 1, a first-class, tall-type can, will be replaced by entrance gas buoy No. 1, exhibiting an intermittent white acetylene light every 4 seconds -thus, light 2 seconds, eclipsed 2 seconds.
OAHU.-HONOLULU HARBour.--INTENDED CHANGE IN LIGHTS.-About the 15th February, 1910, the temporary Honolulu range front light on the eastern side of Sand Island, Honolulu Harbour, Hawaiian Islands, will be replaced by a permanent fourth-order intermittent white light every 6 seconds-thus, light 4 seconds, eclipsed 2 seconds-and the name of the station will be changed to Honolulu Harbour Light-station.
The new light will be shown, 43½ ft. above high water and 41 ft. above the ground, from a black, cylindrical lantern surmounting a square, concrete tower on a keeper's dwelling of concrete with a black roof, and will be visible about 12 miles over the entire horizon.

On the same date the colour of Honolulu range rear light will be changed from green to red, its arc of visibility increased to make it visible from all points within the harbour-limits, and its name changed to Honolulu Fort Street light.
CHINA SEA.
BANKA ISLAND.-NORTH-EAST COAST.-LIAT BAY.-BUOY CHANGED.-Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 51 (2930) of 1909, further information has been received that the red conical buoy established to mark the rock with 2 fathoms over it in Liat Bay, north-east coast of Banka Island, has been provided with a ball top-mark.
Approx. position: Lat. 1° 49' 18" S., long. 106° 09' 20" E.
BRITISH COLUMBIA.
VANCOUVER ISLAND.-SCOTT GROUP.-TRIANGLE ISLAND. INTENDED LIGHT AND WIRELESS TELEGRAPH STATION.-A lighthouse and wireless telegraph station are being constructed by the Canadian Government on Triangle Island, the most western island of the Scott Group, lying westward of Cape Scott, Vancouver Island. Further notice will be given before the light and telegraph are put in operation.
Approximate position on H.O. Chart No. 1452: Lat. 50° 51' 45" N., long. 129° 04' 15" W.
ESQUIMALT HARBOUR.-SUBMARINE CABLE.-PROHIBITED ANCHORAGE.-A high-voltage electric cable has been laid by the British Columbia Electric Railway Company across the entrance of Esquimalt Harbour, Vancouver Island, from a point about 150 yards westward of the western side of the Government dock to a point about 300 yards northward of Rodd Point, on the western shore of the harbour, in a direction bearing approximately 282°, distant 1,150 yards.
Each landing-place is marked by a white sign with the words "Cable Crossing" painted thereon. Mariners are instructed not to anchor in the vicinity of this cable.
WEST COAST.-KYUQUOT SOUND.-SHOALS.-Information has been received of the existence of a rock, with less than 6 ft. over it, in the western approach to Kyuquot Bay, Kyuquot Sound, west coast of Vancouver Island, on the following bearings:- Union Island, left tangent, 355°.
Western headland of Kyuquot Bay, south-western point, 126°, distant 1,750 yards.
Approx. position: Lat. 49° 59' 30" N., long. 127° 20' 00" W. "P.D.; breaks in heavy weather" will be placed on the charts in this position.
The detached ledge off the eastern end of Bare Island extends about 150 yards 182° 30' from the position shown on the charts.
A rocky ledge extends about 250 yards northward from the rock awash, between the rock and rocky ledge located 1,000 yards 240° from the western headland of Kyuquot Bay. Note.-The last mentioned rocks have been named Twin Rocks.
GRAHAM REACH.-HIEKISH NARROWS.-REEF LOCATED.- Capt. Holmes Newcomb, of the Canadian Government steamer "Kestrel," reports having located the reef on which the steamer "Ohio" is supposed to have been wrecked, at the southern entrance to Hiekish Narrows, Graham Reach, British Columbia. Captain Newcomb did not examine the danger thoroughly, but found it to be a reef marked by kelp, extending 250 yards from shore at extreme low water.
A close examination of this reef made by Captain Musgrave, of the Canadian Government surveying-vessel
"Lillooet," shows it to be located off a point on Sarah Island, which bears 250° 15' from Steep Point.
A rock with 7 ft. of water over it was found on the reef 350 ft. from shore, with depths of 5½ fathoms inside.
Vessels entering Hiekish Narrows from the southward should make Steep Point and follow the eastern shore through the narrows.

NELSON HARBOUR.-DREDGE OFF RAILWAY WHARF.

THE Nelson Harbour Board has notified that a dredge has been placed in position 200 ft. north of the Railway Wharf, and 180 ft. towards mid-channel. Dredge-moorings have also been laid down the centre of the channel from the bow of the dredge to abreast of the boat-landing in 30 ft. at low water, spring tides.
Masters of vessels are warned against approaching the wharf during strong flood tides.

NORTH-WEST COAST.
NOTICE is hereby given that a third-order dioptric white light, showing a triple flash every 15 seconds, is in course of erection on Cape Leveque, lat. 16 deg. 23 min. south, long. 122 deg. 55 min. east.
The light will be displayed from an iron tower painted white, 43 ft. in height from base to vane; range of visibility, 19 miles.
Charts affected: No. 1052, Hall Pt. to Cape Bertholet ; No. 1047, Cape Ford to Buccaneer Archipelago ; No. 1048, Buccaneer Archipelago to Bedout Island.

NORTH-WEST COAST.
Notice is hereby given that a second-order dioptric white light, showing a double flash every five seconds, duration of each flash a fifth of a second, is in course of erection on Vlaming Head, lat. 21 deg. 48 min. south, long. 114 deg. 6 min. 30 sec. east.
The light will be displayed from an iron tower painted white, 40 ft. in height from base to vane; range of visibility, 23 miles.
Chart affected : No. 1055, Bedout Island to Cape Cuvier.

NORTH-WEST COAST.
Notice is hereby given that a second-order dioptric white light, flashing every five seconds-thus, flash one-third of a second, eclipse four and two-thirds seconds-is in the course of erection on Point Cloates, lat. 22 deg. 42 min. south, long. 113 deg. 41 min. east.
The light will be displayed from a masonry tower of a natural grey colour, 73 ft. in height from base to vane ; range of visibility, 21 miles.
Chart affected : No. 1055, Bedout Island to Cape Cuvier.
