SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 53, Block VII, Oteramika Hundred. Commencing at a point on the south-west side of Gorge Road, distant 210·3 links in a south-easterly direction from the south-eastern corner of Section No. 52 in the said Block VII. Bounded towards the north-east by Gorge Road, 100 links; towards the south-east by a line bearing 253° 27′ for a distance of 250 links; towards the south-west by a line bearing 343° 27′ a distance of 100 links; and towards the north-west by a line bearing 73° 27′, a distance of 250 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid bearings and linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 8206/1, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and ten.

Opening Land in Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the twenty-ninth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and ten, and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Situated on the western slopes of the Ruahine Range, at the junction of the Kawhatau River and the Hikurangi Stream, access being from Mangaweka, which is about fourteen miles distant by formed dray-road. Good grazing-country, undulating to hilly, with steep cliffs along the river frontages; soil light, on papa formation. The bush contains some rimu, matai, and totara trees. Well watered by the Kawhatau and Hikurangi Rivers and by mountain-streams.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Broken country; about 100 acres fern and manuka, balance mixed forest, comprising tawa, tawhero, rewarewa, and kahikatea; heavy undergrowth of raurekau, supplejack, mahoe; soil of medium quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Distant about seven miles from Otorohanga—six miles formed road, balance not yet formed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the thirteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Section 1 consists of a few acres of open river-flats and low terrace land; the remaining portion is steep, broken hillside, chiefly open country of inferior quality. Section 2 is open, steep, broken, and rough country of inferior quality. These sections are situated four miles and a half from Tophouse by a good dray-road, and thence by an unformed road through Reserve Section 3 for a distance of 40 chains.
