Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Waitara Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

BOROUGH OF WAITARA.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Waitara was taken on the 23rd day of November, 1910, on the proposal of the Waitara Borough Council to borrow the sum of £20,000 for the purposes of—

(1.) Construction of waterworks for the supply of pure water for the use of the inhabitants of the borough and the shipping in the Port of Waitara … … … 16,000
(2.) Construction and improvement of streets 3,000
(3.) Construction of drainage and sanitation works within the borough … … 1,000

£20,000

and which proposal is more fully described in advertisement appearing in the Waitara Evening Mail newspaper, published at Waitara, on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th October, 1910.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 158. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 60. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Emerson and Mulford Streets, in the Town of Concord, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I, Joseph George Ward, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorize the laying-off of Emerson and Mulford Streets, in the Town of Concord, Otago Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

JACKSON’S HEAD BEACON-LIGHT.—CHARACTERISTIC RESUMED.

WITH reference to Notice to Mariners No. 121 of the 25th October, 1910, notice is hereby given that the mechanism of the beacon-light on Jackson’s Head has been overhauled, and the light is once more occulting, giving 3 seconds light and 3 seconds darkness alternately.

IN pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon me by the Licensing Act, 1908, and the Licensing Amendment Act, 1910, I, John George Findlay, Minister of Justice, do hereby appoint the Clerks for the time being of the Magistrates’ Courts set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto to be the Clerks to whom shall be sent all statements of liquor sent or taken into the areas of Native land named in the second column of the said Schedule.

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (Part II, Unclaimed Lands).

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of Part II of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (relating to unclaimed lands), made due inquiries with respect to the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said land, given the notices prescribed by section 66 of that Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of that Act pertinent hereto: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained who the owner is, and believe that such owner is not in the Dominion, nor has such owner established his title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908; the value of the land for the purposes of section 67 (d) of the said Act being less than £100.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the South Canterbury Cycle Traders’ Industrial Union of Employers, registered number 687, situated at Timaru, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon me by section 21 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, it is my intention to cancel the registration of that industrial union after the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.
