Notice to Mariners No. 136 of 1910.

CAPE MARIA VAN DIEMEN LIGHTHOUSE, NORTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND.

NOTICE is hereby given that repairs are about to be effected to the light situated at Cape Maria van Diemen, on the northern coast of the North Island of New Zealand, and that to enable them to be carried out the revolving light will be discontinued from or about the night of Thursday, the 29th day of December, 1910; but a further notice giving the exact date will be issued later on. During the discontinuance of the revolving light a fixed white light will be exhibited in its place, visible about twelve miles from a vessel’s deck in clear weather.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Grocers’ Shops in the City of Auckland under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in which groceries are sold by retail in the City of Auckland, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed as follows : 7 o’clock p.m. on four days in the week ; 1 o’clock p.m. on the day of the statutory half-holiday ; 10 o’clock p.m. on Saturdays ; 11 o’clock on the evening preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and 9 o’clock on the evening preceding any other public holiday : And whereas the Auckland City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in which groceries are retailed in the City of Auckland :

Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 1st day of December, 1910, all such shops in the City of Auckland shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in which groceries are sold by retail in the Borough of Newmarket, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed as follows : 7 o’clock p.m. on four days in the week ; 1 o’clock p.m. on the day of the statutory half-holiday ; 10 o’clock p.m. on Saturdays ; 11 o’clock p.m. on the evening preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day ; and 9 o’clock on the evening preceding any other public holiday : And whereas the Newmarket Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all such shops in the Borough of Newmarket :
