THE following special order, made by the Mataura
Borough Council, is published in accordance with
the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

BOROUGH OF MATAURA.

Special Order making Special Rate.

I, ANDREW BALNEAVES, of the Borough of Mataura, do
hereby certify that at a special meeting of the Borough
Council of the Borough of Mataura held on the 11th day
of October, 1910, the resolution hereinafter set out was
duly passed, and after the same had been duly advertised
in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Cor-
porations Act, 1908, regulating the making of special
orders, such resolution was duly confirmed at a meeting
of the Council of the said borough on the 10th day of
November, 1910, such resolution being in the words and
figures following :—

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf in the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the
Mataura Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £7,000, authorized to be raised by
the Mataura Borough Council, under the above-mentioned
Act, for supplying the borough with water, and providing
drainage for the inhabitants, the said Mataura Borough
Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 10½d. in
the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property
of the Mataura Borough, comprising the whole of the
Borough of Mataura ; and that such special rate shall be
an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan,
and be payable yearly on the 1st day of September in
each and every year during the currency of such loan,
being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the
loan is fully paid off.

HUNTLY ROAD BOARD.

Result of Poll.

I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Matahuru Special Rating District, taken on 11th No-
vember, 1910, on the proposal of the Huntly Road Board
to borrow the sum of £2,000 for completing the metalling
of the roads in the Matahuru Special Rating District, the
voting was as follows : For the proposal, 16 ; against the
proposal, 20.

I therefore declare the proposal rejected.

NEW RULES OF THE AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

Rule 62. Licensed sharebrokers not members of the
Exchange (hereinafter called “outside brokers”) may be
admitted to the privilege of doing business with members
at an annual fee not exceeding £20, provided such outside
brokers subscribe to the rules of the Exchange, and agree
to be bound thereby in every respect as if they were
members of the Exchange.

Rule 69. The brokerage chargeable to both buyer and
seller of claim shares and shares in all companies and
debentures and stocks shall be as follows : Shares of the
value of 1s. and under, ¼d. per share ; from 1s. to 3s. 4d.
in value, ½d. per share ; from 3s. 4d. and upwards in
value, 1¼ per cent. ; syndicate or claim shares, 2½ per cent. ;
and debentures, ½ per cent. ; minimum commission, 5s.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—WHARF LIGHTS.


Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 23rd November, 1910.

WITH reference to Notice to Mariners No. 150 of
1910, issued by this Department on the 14th
instant, in regard to the exhibition of a white flashing
electric light from the end of the Railway Wharf at
Auckland, the Auckland Harbour Board states that two
fifty-candle-power electric lights are now shown from the
extreme ends of the sheds at the outer corner of the
Railway Wharf, and that it is intended that these lights
shall be permanent. They will not, therefore, be dis-
pensed with when the new white flashing electric light
referred to above is exhibited.
