purpose of constructing a traffic-bridge over the Rangitikei River near Taoroa, and to acquire, form, and fence the road of approach thereto, and that the cost of raising the loan be paid out of the loan, the said Rangitikei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¹⁵⁄₁₆d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Taoroa Bridge Special-rating District, comprising Sections 3, 7, 14, 15, 16, 26, 27, 39, and 41, in Block IV, Hautapu Survey District; Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7, in Block XIV, Pukeokahu Survey District; Sections 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 42, and part 40 (180 acres), and Awarua 2A No. 2A (84 acres), and Awarua 2A part No. 2B (10 acres 2 roods 10 perches), in Block I, Ruahine Survey District; Sections 1, 2, and 2A, in Block II, Ruahine Survey District; and Scenery Reserve, Section 12, in Blocks XIV, Pukeokahu, I, Ruahine, and IV, Hautapu Survey Districts: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of May in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off, the interest on such loan being at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum.

I, Robert Kirkpatrick Simpson, Chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Rangitikei County Council held on the 2nd day of October, 1909, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Rangitikei County Council held on the 30th day of October, 1909.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Mount Eden, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and “The Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908,” and the respective amendments thereto.

PROPOSAL of the Mount Eden Borough Council to raise a special loan of £52,000 for the particular purposes following, namely:—

  1. The sum of £18,800 with which to redeem and pay off the special loans of £13,000 (called the Borough Loan No. 1), of £4,500 (called Borough Loan No. 2), and of £1,300 (called Borough Loan No. 3), raised by the Mount Eden Borough Council, and maturing respectively on the 1st October, 1922.

  2. The sum of £1,000 with which to construct and establish public swimming-baths in Belle Vue Road, in the said borough, adjacent to the public school.

  3. The sum of £500 with which to purchase a central site in the borough for the erection thereon in the future of municipal buildings.

  4. The sum of £2,000 with which to extend the existing waterworks system, and to supply mains, materials, and labour in connection therewith.

  5. The sum of £29,700 with which to widen, construct, and complete the approaches to the Dominion Road Railway-bridge; construct, repair, metal, and grade the public roads and streets within the borough (other than the Mount Eden and Dominion Roads), up to their respective junctions with the Epsom and Mount Albert Road.

  6. An annually recurring special rate will be made of 10d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property in the borough as security for the interest, not exceeding £4 10s. per centum per annum (and an annual sinking fund of ½ per cent.), on and for the loans for the purposes and undertakings.

  7. In addition to the special rates before mentioned, and for the purpose of securing the repayment of such proposed special loans and the interest thereon and sinking fund, the whole of the revenues of the borough (other than those derived from the special rates levied in respect of the special water loans in the Nos. 1, 2, and 3 Water Districts of the borough) are appropriated and pledged for those purposes. The whole of the loan of £52,000 is to be repayable at the expiration of thirty years from the date of the issue of the same.

  8. It is proposed to pay out of the loan-moneys the preliminary expenses and the cost incurred in connection with the scheme for which the loan is proposed, and the cost of raising the loan, and the first year’s interest of the loan during the performance of the said purposes, and the construction of the said works for which the loan is proposed to be raised.

We hereby give notice that the number of valid votes recorded at the poll held on the 23rd day of October, 1909, in respect of the above proposals was as follows: For the proposal, 632; against the proposal, 465.

And as the number of votes recorded for the proposal is a majority of the total votes recorded at the poll, we hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF MILTON.

PURSUANT to section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Milton taken on the 27th day of October, 1909, on the proposal of the Milton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £3,000 for the purpose of erecting and establishing gasworks within the borough for the manufacture and supply of acetylene gas,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 91. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 45.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the result of the poll taken in the Frankton Town District to raise a special loan of £1,200 for the following work—viz., forming and improving streets within the Frankton Town District—which was held on Wednesday, the 27th October, 1909, was as follows:—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 58. Number of votes recorded against the proposal, 5. Majority of votes in favour of the proposal, 53. Informal, nil.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
