Special Order made by the Woodlands Drainage Board.

THE following special order, made by the Woodlands Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

WOODLANDS DRAINAGE BOARD.
Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and its amendments, the Woodlands Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,000, authorised to be raised by the Woodlands Drainage Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for making new drains, deepening and improving existing drains throughout the Woodlands Drainage District, the said Woodlands Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1¼d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the whole of the Woodlands Drainage District; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of August and the 1st day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest to be paid on the above said loan to be £4½ per centum per annum.

The above special order was duly passed and adopted at a properly constituted special meeting of the Drainage Board held on the 19th day of August, 1909, and confirmed at a meeting of the Drainage Board on the 30th day of September, 1909.

Result of Loan Poll.

In the matter of “The Town Boards Act, 1908,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and the Acts amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 18th day of September, 1909, a proposal was submitted by the Warkworth Town Board to the ratepayers of the Warkworth Town District for raising a special loan of £1,200 to build a public hall, and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 63; against, 20; informal, 2.

I declare the proposal to be carried.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, David Buddo, Acting Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Parkes Avenue, Tarata, Ngapuhi, and Huanui Roads, in the (above) Town of St. John’s Hill, Extension No. 3, Wellington Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. each, instead of 99 ft.

Notice to Mariners No. 78 of 1909.

THE following extracts from Notices to Mariners, received from the Board of Trade, London, are published for general information.

ADEN GULF.

ADEN HARB.—CAUTION.—During the dredging operations now in process in the port, it may be necessary at any time, without notice, to remove chan. or mooring buoys. The chan. buoys, when relaid, are to be placed in new positions to mark the widened chan. The dredgers when at work carry, by day, 2 black discs hor. on the side on which vessels may pass, and 1 black disc on the other side. By night these discs are replaced by white lts. in the same positions. April.

The dredging-spoil is being deposited in the outer harb. in an area to the nrd. of a line from the Anadyr lt.-v. (12° 47′ N., 44° 57¼′ E.) to the Pinnacle Rk. and to the wrd. of a line N. from the same lt.-v. to the shore. The depths in the above area will be liable to change, and mariners are warned accordingly. These deposits are in the quarantine-ground shown on the charts. Aug.

The lt.-boat exh. 2 F. red lts. vert., prev. in 12° 46¾′ N., 44° 57¾′ E., in Aden Outer Harb., 7½ cables W. from the Residency Flagstaff on Ras Tarshein, has been replaced by a red lt.-buoy, exh. an occ. red lt., vis. 5 secs., ecl. 5 secs. Aug.

EASTERN ARCHIPELAGO, ETC.

PADANG APPROACHES.—1. The reef marked “E.D.,” in 1° 3½′ S., 100° 11¾′ E., does not exist, and has been expunged from the chart. 2. (a.) A reef, carrying 3¼ fms., exists in 0° 59¾′ S., 100° 9¼′ E., N.-wrd. of Dorothea Reef. (b.) A reef, carrying 3 fms., exists in 1° 3½′ S., 100° 13′ E., wrd. of Gosong Gedang. 3. (a.) Bellona Reef is in 1° 5¾′ S., 100° 12¼′ E., about 8 cables srd. of its present charted position, and carries 3 fms., instead of 5 fms. as now shown on the chart. (b.) Seven-fm. Reef is in 1° 9¼′ S., 100° 13¾′ E., about 3½ cables nrd. of its charted position, and carries 6 fms. Pulo Laut is in 1° 8¼′ S., 100° 10¼′ E., about ½ mile N.-erd. of its present charted position. Note.—The positions above are those on Chart No. 709. Aug.

BANKA ISL.—The following lt.-buoys, exh. occ. white lts., vis. 10 secs., ecl. 10 secs., are est.: A black lt.-buoy, in place of the black can buoy, in 1° 32′ S., 105° 40½′ E., on wrn. side of Penyusu Isl., Klabat Bay. A white lt.-buoy in 1° 55¼′ S., 106° 14¼′ E., on ern. side of Malan Tate (Fokke Reef). A white lt.-buoy is est. on the ern. side of Sullivan Rks., in 2° 1½′ S., 106° 17¼′ E., with Panjang Isl. summit S. 2° W. 7⁶⁄₁₀ miles, in place of the black can buoy surm. by a truncated cone on S.W. side of the rks. A black lt.-buoy, in place of the black can buoy, in 2° 26¾′ S., 106° 25½′ E., N. side of reef in approach to Koba. Aug.

A reef, about 1½ cables in extent, carrying 6 ft., exists in 2° S., 106° 16¼′ E., in the nrn. approach to Marowang Road, E. coast of the isl., with W. extr. of Pulo Panjang S. 5° E. 9⁴⁄₁₀ miles, and Gunong Sambongiri N. 72° W. Aug.

CHINA SEA, ETC.

WEI HAI WEI ANCHORAGE.—The lt. exh. from No. 1 nav. buoy, in 37° 30½′ N., 122° 9′ E., 4½ cables N. 82° W. from flagstaff on Obser. Isl., has been altered in colour from green to white. Aug.
