Very broken country, covered with heavy mixed forest, comprising tawa, towai, kohekohe, and a few rata and rimu trees, with heavy undergrowth of supplejack, makomako, and punga; about 18 acres felled, but now back to scrub. Soil of medium quality, on sandstone and slate formation; well watered by small streams. Fronts Waikawau Road, distant about twenty-four miles from Awakino by formed bridle-track.

Altitude, from 100 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. All broken land, except about 3 acres flat; about 10 acres light mixed forest, comprising rewarewa, hinau, and some birch, with light undergrowth of ferns and supplejack; balance fern and manuka. Clay soil, on sandstone formation; well watered by Torehape Stream. Situated about twenty-five miles from Ohinewai Railway-station by cart-road to within six miles of section, thence by 6 ft. bridle-track, except last quarter-mile yet unformed.

Altitude, from 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. About 15 acres swampy gullies, 50 acres undulating, balance broken land, covered with fern and manuka, except 3 acres light mixed forest, comprising tawa and one kauri ricker and one rimu-tree. Soil light to heavy clay, on sandstone formation; well watered by springs. Situated about nineteen miles from Morrisville by cart-road.

Altitude, from 100 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Broken country, covered with fern and manuka scrub. Soil medium in quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Access from Whakatane, ten miles distant—eight miles by Whakatane–Te Teko Main Road, balance as yet unformed.

Altitude, from 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Broken country, half mixed forest, comprising tawa, rata, and rimu of no market value, with thick undergrowth of scrub; balance fern land. Soil of fair quality, of a sandy nature, resting on sandstone formation; well watered. Access from Whakatane, eleven miles distant—eight miles by main Whakatane–Te Teko Road, balance as yet unformed.

Opening National Endowment Land in Nelson Land District for Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the eighth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—TAKAKA COUNTY. — ONEHAU BLOCK.

This block is situated on both sides of the main inland road leading from Takaka to Collingwood, and is country drained principally by the Little Onehau and Onehau Streams.
The area comprises chiefly pakibi land, a large portion of which consists of flat-topped terraces, with undulating and low hilly land on the southern portion; the flats covered with small manuka scrub, fern, and rushes, and the hilly portion with manuka scrub.
The soil is of an inferior clayey nature. Altitude, 150 ft. to 450 ft. above sea-level. The nearest point of the block is about two miles and a half from the Port of Waitapu by a good dray-road, and the inland road, Takaka to Collingwood, intersects the block.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Fronts Mangakahia Road about twenty-eight miles from Whangarei, and distant about quarter-mile from Pakotai Post-office and store and about three miles from Parakao Post-office.
