Mixed agricultural and pastoral land. Altitude, 1,300 ft. to 1,450 ft. above sea-level. Thirty acres open flat land, partly of a swampy nature, and covered with native grass; the remainder light bush, consisting principally of red and brown birch; soil light; land well watered. Situated twenty miles from the Warwick Junction Post-office, thirteen miles of which is a good metalled dray-road, and the remainder, seven miles, by a bridle-track across open country; also thirty miles from Reefton, twenty-four miles of which is by a good dray-road, and six miles by a pack-track. Exempt from rent for three years.

Opening Lands in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the tenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Weighted with £100, valuation for improvements, comprising marram-grass planting and 50 chains fencing. Altitude, from sea-level to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; about 7 acres in grass, 2 acres flax, 5 acres fern and scrub, remainder covered with drifting sand, of which 50 acres is planted with marram-grass. On the 14 acres not covered with sand soil is of good quality, on sandstone formation; indifferently watered by Waitata Stream. Fronts the sea on the west coast, three miles from Otama and eight miles from Waiuku by good road. Exempt from rent for three years.

Weighted with £31, valuation for marram-grass planting and 10 chains of fencing. Altitude, from 1 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. Undulating country; 5 acres grass; 200 acres flax, manuka, and rushes; remainder covered with sand on which 20 acres to 30 acres of marram-grass has been planted in different parts. Soil on part uncovered by sand is of medium quality; badly watered, except for a small lagoon at one end. Distant about seven miles from Waiuku by fairly good formed road. Exempt from rent for three years.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the two-hundred-and-twenty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

THOMAS NOEL BRODRICK,
EUSTACE LANE, and
GEORGE WRIGHT

Commissioners to classify and report to me upon the rural land in Hawke’s Bay Land District known as Run No. 6, as provided by section two hundred and twenty-five of “The Land Act, 1908.”

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of September, one thousand nine hundred and nine.
