Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of October, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

Undulating and level land, covered with fern and scrub, except about 5 acres mixed forest, comprising taraire, birch, tawa, rata, and a few rimu and totara trees, with moderate undergrowth of fern and shrubs; soil mixed clay and loam from fair to inferior in quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by stream. Situated about eight miles from Kawakawa—six miles formed road, balance bridle-track.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Opening Lands in Taranaki Land District for Sale or Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the eighteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Situated at junction of Okaihae and Ongarue River Roads. Access from Taringamutu Railway-station, about half a mile distant. Fair to steep spurs, with flats; about half is fairly good fern country, the balance being forest, comprising rata, rimu, matai, kahikatea, totara, tawa, &c., with a dense undergrowth. Fair soil, on a papa formation, with small deposits of pumice; well watered.

Situated on the Paraketu Road. Access from Waimeha, about four miles distant by bridle-track. Flat, undulating, and steep country; soil of good quality, with a sprinkling of pumice in it, on a papa formation. Forest is heavy, comprising totara, matai, rimu, white-pine, hinau, rata, tawhero, tawa, mahoe, &c., with a fairly dense undergrowth. Well watered.

Situated on the Takiri, Ongarue, and Paraketu Roads. Access from Waimeha, which is about one mile and a half distant by bridle-track. Flat, undulating, and fairly steep country, a large proportion being ploughable. The open country is mostly covered with fern, manuka, tutu, and koromiko scrub. The soil is of inferior to good quality, on a papa and rhyolite formation. Forest is about 300 acres in extent, and varies from light to heavy, comprising tawa, tawhero, hinau, mahoe, totara, matai, rimu, white-pine, &c., with a fairly dense undergrowth. Well watered.

The forest is light and of small extent, comprising totara, matai, rimu, white-pine, hinau, tawhero, kotukutuku, &c., with a fairly dense undergrowth. Well watered.
