And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the thirteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty's Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and nine.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the seventy-fifth section of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1908" (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is, amongst other things, enacted that before certain moneys therein mentioned shall be expended upon any block of land it shall be necessary that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.

SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.

Paraketu Block (3,345 Acres).

WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the North Island Main Trunk Railway from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Taumarunui, and the Ongarue River Valley (portion of the Hunterville Section), to take further land near Hunterville, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway, and to take land for a road-diversion in connection therewith:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of

the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-nine and one hundred and eighty-eight of "The Public Works Act, 1908," and of every other power and authority in anyway enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned.
