Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of Roads through Subdivisions of the Waipuka, Waimarama, and Okaihau Blocks, Hawke’s Bay Land District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” that the roads described in the Schedule hereto were duly taken and laid off through the lands described in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 2nd day of January, 1909.

It is hereby notified that an uncharted reef or submerged derelict is reported with less than 16 ft. water at ¾ ebb dead neap tide, Gantheaume Point bearing east, distance ¾ of a mile, lat. 17.58 S., long. 122.10 east (position approximate). Charts affected: No. 1048, Buccaneer Archipelago to Bedout Island; No. 858, Roebuck Bay.

MAGELLAN STRAIT.—DUNGENESS LIGHT-TOWER.—COLOUR OF SUBSIDIARY LIGHT.—FURTHER INFORMATION.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 51 (2313) of 1908, further information has been received from the Chilean Government that the subsidiary light in Dungeness Light-tower, Magellan Strait, shows white over Nassau Rock, and not red as previously stated.

CALIFORNIA.
SAN FRANCISCO LIGHT-VESSEL NO. 70.—LIGHT DISCONTINUED.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 9 (398) of 1909, further notice is given that on 1st June, 1909, one group of lights on San Francisco light-vessel No. 70, moored off the bar at the entrance to San Francisco Bay, California, was permanently discontinued, so that this vessel now shows a single intermittent white light every 15 seconds—thus, light 5 seconds, eclipsed 10 seconds.
Approx. position: Lat. 37° 45′ 03″ N., long. 122° 41′ 30″ W.

WASHINGTON.
COLUMBIA RIVER ENTRANCE.—RANGE LIGHTS ESTABLISHED.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 18 (909) of 1909, further notice is given that on 15th May, 1909, range lights were established to guide vessels across the bar at the mouth of the Columbia River by the North Channel. The range line passes just southward of the outside bar whistle buoy and the mid-channel buoy, and serves as a guide not only for vessels crossing the bar by the North Channel, but for all vessels navigating the channel between Clatsop Spit and Sand Island, from the mid-channel buoy to Clatsop Spit buoy No. 8.
The front light is a fixed white lens-lantern light, exhibited 45 ft. above the water from a pyramidal, white, frame structure, erected on four piles, located in 12 ft. of water about 1,000 ft. eastward of the eastern end of Sand Island, on the following bearings:—
Fort Columbia Wharf, outer end, S. 59° 20′ E.
Desdemona Sands Lighthouse, S. 8° E.
Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, N. 75° 20′ W.
Approx. position: Lat. 46° 15′ 33″ N., long. 123° 57′ 50″ W.
The rear light is a fixed white lens-lantern light, exhibited 70 ft. above the water from an arm on a white pole, located on the beach about 1½ miles N. 79° 40′ E. from the front light.
