THE following special order, made by the Christchurch City Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” “The Public Health Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Christchurch City Council hereby resolves as follows :—
(a.) That whereas by section 3 of “The Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” the Christchurch City Council is empowered by special order and in manner provided by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” to borrow moneys not exceeding in the whole the sum of £30,000: Now, therefore, the said Christchurch City Council doth hereby, by special order, resolve to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £5,000 (making £10,000 in all borrowed under the said Act), to be expended in manner provided in the said “Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” such loan to be for a period of twenty-six years, and bear interest at the rate of £4 10s. per centum per annum.
(b.) That, for the purpose of providing the interest at the rate of £4 10s. per centum per annum and other charges on the aforesaid loan of £5,000 so authorised to be raised by the Christchurch City Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for expenditure in manner provided in the said “Christchurch City Sanitation Empowering Act, 1908,” the said Christchurch City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/160d. in the pound upon the rateable value (being the capital value) of all rateable property comprised within the boundaries of the City of Christchurch, as constituted and described by Proclamation of His Excellency the Governor published on the 1st day of April, 1903, in a Supplement to the New Zealand Gazette of Thursday, the 26th day of March, 1903, pages 883 and 884, and the boundaries as described in the Schedule thereto, as amended by the Order in Council altering the boundaries of the City of Christchurch published in the New Zealand Gazette dated the 4th day of April, 1907, page 1136; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Christchurch City Council held on the 28th day of June, 1909, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 26th day of July, 1909.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Palmerston North, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

PALMERSTON NORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Proposal to raise Two Special Loans under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”
WE hereby give notice that on the 26th day of July, 1909, proposals were submitted by the Palmerston North Borough Council to a poll of ratepayers of the Palmerston North Borough for raising special loans of £16,000 and £2,000 respectively, particulars of which proposals have been duly advertised in a newspaper circulating in the said borough, and that the votes recorded respectively for and against the said proposals were as follows :—
To remove two 7 in. water-mains and replace same with one 15 in. water-main, for a distance, approximately, of 1·72 miles, from Section 212, Tiritēa, to Section 268, Tiritēa, and to add, approximately, 1·5 miles of one 10 in. water-main from Section 267, Tiritēa, to Section 272, Tiritēa ; and, further, to raise the present water-supply dam on Section 273, Tiritēa, to a height of, approximately, 50 ft. : For, 221 ; against, 377.
To complete the erection of a building to be used as a public library on Section 662, Palmerston North : For, 171 ; against, 419.
As in respect of both the above loan proposals the number of votes recorded in favour did not exceed the number of votes recorded against the same, we hereby declare the said proposals not carried.

KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £27,500 for the Purpose of extending the Present Electric Tramway along the Main Road to the Junction of the Main and South Karori Roads, and the Purchase of Stone-crusher and Plant for the Preparation of the Ballast for the Tram-line.
PURSUANT of section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Karori, taken on the 28th day of July, 1909, on the proposal of the Karori Borough Council to borrow £27,500 for the purpose of extending the present electric tramway along the Main Road to the junction of the Main and South Karori Roads, and the purchase of stone-crusher and plant for the preparation of the ballast for the tram-line, was as follows :—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 326 ; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 254 ; informal, 8.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

DELAGOÄ BAY.—The limits of the red sector of Reuben Pt. F. lt. (25° 58⅔′ S., 32° 36′ E.) have been altered, and the lt. now shows white from S. 66° W., through W., to N. 85° W. ; red from N. 85° W. to N. 81° W. ; and white from N. 81° W., through N. and E., to S. 71° E. The red sector covers the detached 2¼-fm. shoal srd. of Shefina Grande. Also, a red sector has been added to Catembe F. lt. (26° 0⅓′ S., 32° 34′ E.), which now shows red from S. 79° W. to S. 84° W. ; and white from S. 84° W., through W., to N. 83° W. June.
