copy will be sent to the commanding officer of the Officers Training Corps contingent at the university to which the cadet intends to go, or, should he not intend to go to a university, to the O.C. District in which he proposes to reside; a second copy will be sent to the Council of Defence; and the third copy forwarded to the cadet, and retained by him.
- On a cadet leaving the Senior Division with no immediate intention to take a commission, the Council of Defence will be informed as to his permanent address and the profession, if any, which he intends to follow.
REPORTS, RETURNS, AND CORRESPONDENCE.
- All correspondence on matters relating to the O.T.C. will be through O.C. Districts as per General Regulations for the Defence Forces.
XII. EXAMINATIONS FOR CERTIFICATES.
SENIOR DIVISION.
- (i.) An examination for Certificate A only will be held at a date to be notified by the Council of Defence.
To be eligible to undergo this examination, a cadet of the Senior Division must have been returned as an efficient three months previous to date of commission and have attended a camp.
(ii.) An examination for Certificates A and B will be held at a date to be notified by the Council of Defence. Any cadet who has obtained Certificate A at the previous examination will be allowed to undergo the examination for Certificate B.
(iii.) An examination for Certificates A and B will be held at a date to be notified by the Council of Defence. To be eligible to undergo the examination for Certificate A, a cadet must, during the previous twelve months, have fulfilled the conditions. To be eligible to undergo the examination for Certificate B, a cadet must be in possession of Certificate A, and must, during the previous twelve months, have fulfilled the conditions laid down.
JUNIOR DIVISION.
- (i.) An examination for Certificate A will be held at a date to be notified by the Council of Defence. To be eligible to undergo this examination, a cadet must be over sixteen years of age six months previous to date of examination, have completed not less than two years’ service in the cadet corps by that date, and have attended camp at least once.
(ii.) A further examination will be held on a date to be notified later by the Council of Defence. To be eligible to undergo this examination, a cadet must have been returned as “efficient,” and have completed not less than two years’ service in the cadet corps on that date, and have attended camp at least once.

FORM OF APPLICATION,
TO BE FORWARDED BY A UNIVERSITY OR SCHOOL DESIROUS OF PROVIDING A TROOP, SECTION, OR COMPANY FOR THE OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS.
TO THE SECRETARY, COUNCIL OF DEFENCE.
I AM directed to submit, on the part of the authorities of University (or School), their offer to furnish a company of the Officers Training Corps. Should this offer be accepted by the Council of Defence, the authorities of this university (or school) are prepared to recognise without reserve the regulations issued for the guidance and control of the Officers Training Corps, and to further to the best of their power the objects with which that corps is being formed.
A statement is attached giving particulars of the unit which this university (or school) is prepared to furnish and maintain. A copy of the form of contract under which the university (or school) authorities propose that cadets shall be held to serve is also forwarded for the approval of the Council of Defence.
PARTICULARS OF COMPANY TO BE FURNISHED.

Number of Companies.—Showing arm of the service to which they belong, present organization, late titles, and present establishment of officers, N.C.O.s, and men, and permanent staff.

Officers.—Names, present rank, record of past services, and qualifications of officers now serving. Names, &c., of gentlemen recommended for commissions in addition to above to complete establishment, if necessary.

Training Facilities.—Details of accommodation, plant, ranges, &c., available.

[In the case of universities:] Military Committee—names of members.
[In the case of schools:] State whether school is in receipt of an educational grant from any Government Department, and, if so, state how many of the cadets shown under 1 are under and over sixteen years of age respectively.
In the case of a university or school not in possession of a uniformed corps, a statement on the above lines should be submitted, showing the nature and estimated strength of the company to be raised, and the names and qualifications of gentlemen who are prepared to accept commissions as officers.

Mounted Rifle Training, 1908.
2nd Paper.—200 marks—2 hours.
Combined Training, 1905. Elementary questions on Chapters iv and vi.
Practical and Oral Examination.
(a.) 100 marks.
Mounted Rifle Training, 1908.
(b.) 100 marks.
Tactical handling of a section of at least twelve men.
(c.) 100 marks.
Care of arms, mechanism of the rifle, elementary musketry practices (Appendix to Training Manuals, 1905).
- GARRISON ARTILLERY.
1st Paper.—200 marks—2 hours.
Garrison Artillery Training, 1905, Vol. i, Chapter i—Gunnery.
2nd Paper.—200 marks—2 hours.
Garrison Artillery Training, 1905, Vol. i, Chapter vii—Attack and defence of a coast fortress. Chapter ix—Manning and fighting medium and heavy guns.
Practical and Oral Examination.

Company drill (Infantry Training).

Standing gun drill of gun in use.
