the twenty-sixth day of December, one thousand nine hundred, the thirtieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and two, and the thirty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and six, districts were proclaimed and Returning Officers were appointed under powers conferred by sections three and four of “The Maori Councils Act, 1900,” aforesaid: And whereas the services of certain of the Returning Officers so appointed are through death and other causes no longer available:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand aforesaid, do hereby appoint the persons named in the first column of the Schedule hereto to be Returning Officers for the district set forth in the second column of the said Schedule, instead of the persons formerly appointed as aforesaid.

Defining the Middle-line of the Remaining Portion of the Branch of the Hurunui-Waitaki Railway from Waipara to a Point in the Neighbourhood of the Township of Mackenzie—namely, Mackenzie Section.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the branch of the Hurunui-Waitaki Railway from Waipara to a point in the neighbourhood of the Township of Mackenzie (hereinafter termed “the said railway”) is a railway the construction of which is authorised by “The Public Works Act, 1908”: And whereas the said railway has been partly constructed, and it has been determined to construct and maintain the remaining portion of the same—Domett-Mackenzie Section:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle-line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in railway reserve, Block XVI, Lowry Peaks Survey District, which point is marked 32 miles, and is also the termination of the railway described in a Proclamation dated the 16th day of March, 1906, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 21, of the 22nd day of March, 1906; proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction for a distance of about 3 miles 37 chains, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands—viz., railway reserve in Blocks XVI and XII, Lowry Peaks Survey District—and terminating at a point in the Township of Mina South, on the boundary between the south side of Elizabeth Road and railway reserve, the said point being marked 35 miles 37 chains: including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, reserves, roads, tracks, rivers, streams, and watercourses: all in the Land District of Canterbury: in the manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 24306, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consent of the owner of the land mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, and of the Hunua Road Board, being the local authority in whose district the said land is situated, proclaim as a road the land in Opaheke Survey District described in the First Schedule hereto; and also do hereby, with the like consents as aforesaid, proclaim as closed the road described in the Second Schedule hereto, which is not required by reason of the road first hereinbefore proclaimed.
