Altitude, 200 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to steep country, covered with mixed forest, comprising puriri, kohekohe, towai, and rata, with thick undergrowth of scrub. Soil of fair quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated about seven miles from Opotiki by dray-road.
ROTORUA COUNTY.—MAKETU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 500 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to flat land, covered with fern and tutu scrub. Soil light, but of good quality, being decomposed pumice and volcanic matter, on volcanic cement; no water. Situated about five miles from Pongakawa Post-office and school by formed dray-road.

Appointing Commissioners to classify Pastoral Lands in Westland Land District.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the two-hundred-and-twenty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
GORDON HURRELL MORLAND McCLURE,
JOHN SAMUEL LANG, and
GEORGE MALLINSON
Commissioners to classify and report to me upon the rural lands in Westland Land District described in the Schedule hereto, as provided by section two hundred and twenty-five of “The Land Act, 1908.”
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—GREY COUNTY.
ALL that area in Pohaturoa and Lewis Survey Districts, containing approximately 160,000 acres. Starting at the confluence of Snow’s Creek with the Grey River above Gentle Annie Gorge, and proceeding thence in a general easterly direction along the southern boundary of the Nelson Land District to the main dividing-range eastward of the head of Lake Christabel; thence following the main divide in a general south-westerly course to the Amuri Pass; thence in a general westerly direction following the Waiheke Stream to its confluence with the Tutaekuri River; thence striking inland by irregular lines about a mile distance from the right bank of the Ahaura River to the south-east corner of Section 43 of Block I, Haupiri Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary of Sections 43, 41, and 40 of aforesaid block; thence by irregular lines from the north corner of Section 40 aforesaid, keeping from a mile to a mile and a half from the right bank of the River Ahaura, to the south-east corner of Section 4 of Block XIII, Pohaturoha Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary of Sections 4 and 5 of aforesaid Block XIII to the north-east corner of said Section 5; thence following generally the track down to Granite Creek; thence striking across country in a general north-east direction to the Clarke River, hitting that river about a mile above its confluence with the Grey River; thence in a general easterly direction up the left bank of the Grey River to the aforesaid confluence of Snow’s Creek, the point of commencement.
Also all that area in Arnold, Waimea, and Hohonu Survey Districts, containing approximately 40,000 acres. Beginning at the south-east corner of Educational Endowment Reserve No. 130; thence in a direction about north-east of Maori Gully Stream; thence up Maori Gully Stream and by German Gully to the boundary of New Zealand Midland Railway Company’s Block 28; thence by the westerly boundary of that block to its most westerly point; thence generally south-west to the Lake Brunner Road; thence generally north-west to Cockeye Creek; thence generally westerly to Turiwhate Trig. Station; thence generally southerly by Marsden Road to Big Hohonu Creek; thence generally westerly by Big Hohonu Creek to Cape Terrace Road; thence generally in a northerly direction by Cape Terrace Road Horse-track, the eastern boundary of Marsden Township, and part Welshman’s to Nelson Creek; thence generally easterly to the south-west corner of Section 1618, Block XIII, Arnold District; thence around Sections 1618 and 1864; thence along Marion Creek, Rata-tree Road, and A.K. Line Road up to the north boundary of Block XIII, Arnold Survey District; thence generally easterly to the west boundary of Education Endowment Reserve No. 130 aforesaid; thence by the westerly and southerly boundaries of the said reserve to the starting-point.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in the Nelson Land District.
PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to change or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto from that named therein to that named in the second column thereof.
