Opening National Endowment Land in Auckland Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Undulating to moderately broken country; 20 acres swamp; 460 acres forest, comprising rimu, rata, puriri, karaka, manuka, kohékohe, tawa, and towai, with light undergrowth of nikau, punga, supplejack, and kiekie; balance fern country. Soil a stiff clay of rather inferior quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Fronts the head of the Whangaruru Harbour. From three to four miles from Whangaruru Post-office.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Altitude, 1,000 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, except Sections 4 and 5, which are broken. About 20 acres on Section 3 felled and grassed some years ago; balance of sections covered with heavy mixed forest, generally moss-grown; comprises rimu, rata, towai, miro, taraire, and kahikatea, with dense undergrowth of kiekie, supplejack, toetoe, and ferns; very wet and difficult to burn. Soil of medium quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Fronts main Kaihu–Taheke Road, fifteen to sixteen miles from Kaihu Railway-station, and from twenty to twenty-one miles from Taheke.

Soil, loam and clay, on sandstone formation; watered by springs and small stream. Distant sixteen miles from Kaihu Railway-station by dray-road.

Soil, loam and clay; fair grass land, on sandstone formation; watered by springs and small watercourses. Situated sixteen miles from Kaihu Railway-station by dray-road.

Situated twenty-two miles from Kaihu Railway-station, twenty miles of which is by formed road and two miles bridle-track.

Altitude, 500 ft. to 750 ft. above sea-level. About 60 acres fairly flat land, 90 acres undulating, balance broken; 20 acres grass, balance heavy mixed forest, comprising rimu, tawa, rata, cedar, and a few totara-trees, with dense undergrowth of supplejack, mahoe, and nikau. Soil of fair quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated about fifteen miles from Clevedon—good cart-road to within half-mile of section, balance track; or twelve miles from Hunua Post-office—cart-road to within nine miles of section, balance track in poor repair.
