APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A BRANCH WATER-RACE.
To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Arrowtown.
PURSUANT to "The Mining Act, 1908," the undersigned, Francis Cosgrove, of Gibbston, Otago, Miner and Farmer, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 9th January, 1909, at 7.30 a.m.
Date and number of miner's right: 26th October, 1908; No. 63483.
Address for service: Office of Wesley Turton, Arrowtown.
Dated at Queenstown, this 11th day of January, 1909.
Schedule.
Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Gibbston. Commencing at a point in Cosgrove Brothers' Water-race, held under License No. 927, dated 15th December, 1908, at a point distant about two miles from the intake or head of such race, running through James Whelan's leasehold land for about 100 yards, thence through my leasehold land, and terminating near my residence, at Gibbston, including a strip of land of 10 ft. on each side of the branch race applied for for maintenance and repairs. The branch race applied for has been in constant use by me for about thirty years, and is still used by me.

Length and intended course of race: About 15 chains; north.
Points of intake: Commencing-point.
Estimated time and cost of construction: Already constructed; originally cost about £5.
Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. 6 in.; 2 ft.
Number of heads to be diverted: Two.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Domestic, irrigation, feeding and driving machinery.
Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
